Glencross is a left wing.. Raymond can play left or right wing.

Smart signing. Always impressed by this guy and he always scores on us. He can move up and down the line up into different spots.

Upgrade on Galiardi and maybe even Stempniak.

Good utility player with good character.

Treliving living up to his early quotes that he's about building around character players.

CapGeek @capgeek
Mason Raymond's cap hit is actually $3.15M and he gets a modified NTC.

I'm ok with this signing...it fills a hole with a young-ish fast guy who will work hard and who wants to be here.

He's a placeholder...it's fine.

Can we get any details on his modified NTC? How handcuffed are the Flames management in flipping him at a deadline?

You know what, between Selanne retiring, Ribeiro being bought out, and signing Raymond, Flames might actually end up a bit higher in the standings than we'd expect.

I don't see any correlation.

Flames entrenched in last in the west. Quite easily imo.
If, by a but higher you mean 13th instead of 14th , I suppose that is possible.

Has Edmonton officially been relegated to the AHL, or do you really think they'll be better than Calgary?

Edmonton may have marginally improved. The forward core is still soft as butter left on my deck yesterday afternoon, but they are better on D than they were. Having said that, they are still very likely bottom 2 in the league, and I'm struggling to think who is worse than them on D. Their goaltending had a few good games after the trades ("oh ya, look at Scrivens save over 50 shots and get a shut out - see it was the goalie's fault all along") but is still pretty average to below average and behind that craptastic D and forwards that refuse to play any D whatsoever, I don't expect they'll improve much on their dead last in goals against stat from last year.

Plus they still have the worst coach in the league. Hard to imagine them being anything other than a bottom five team in the league again.

Raymond is a horrible player. Zero IQ, zero vision, zero physicality. Plays like a true wuss. Not sure what Treliving is thinking on this conract. Absolutely useless in the playoffs but the Flames won't have to worry about that for the duration of his contract.

I'm OK with this signing. he has speed and some offensive upside which we're gonna need badly this year.
If not everyone will be OK with one of the kids taking his place in the line up.

Interesting how your Canucks declined after he left...

Good ol' fashion straight down the middle troll. 2002 throwback style. Let's keep him.
