Seeing how my account is "too new" I have decided to post this here. Seeing how Bryon has been added back to the fold I thought it would be fitting to put my projected lines up base on the roster on cap geek. As you can tell the lines dont make total sense and I wouldnt bring bennett up just yet. Tell me how I did and what you would change. PS I am glad Byron is back is a true flame!

Goal

Hiller
Ramo

Defence

Giordano/Wideman
Smid/Engelland
Russell/Brodie

Offense

Raymond/Monahan/Jones
Hudler/Backlund/Gaudreau
Glencross/Stajan/Colborne
Bollig/Bouma/Mcgrattan

For some historical perspective, that was the case for Turner Elson.
Post I wrote a few months back about whether Poirier's contract would slide or not this year.

http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showpos...&postcount=133

Poirier signed before December 31st, 2013.

You could also submit it to this thread, a "contest" for predicting the lineup:

There's 3 spots once we qualify our RFAs. That's barring any trades. Don't forget that injuries will occur and there'll be ample opportunity for players to step up.

I like that there's spots, but none are given. There's only so many sheltered minutes to go around. Granlund, Reinhart, Baertschi, Arnold, Gaudreau and others can try to earn one of those spots or get big minutes in the AHL. How many would be ideal to you?

Haha, I was just thinking, his post is a perfect example of why we don't let new posters start threads until they've posted a bit and gotten a feel for the site.

Such certainty.

Reinhart and Granlund took huge strides last year.. and another half season in the AHL will likely really benefit him.

Let them beat the veterans out with their play, not hand them a job on the big club to play low minutes.

Hmm. Good job deciphering legalese. I guess I'm wrong.
With that shoulder injury coming into play, he may very well spend the season in the minors, too.
Do you read that as saying his contract would slide in that case, too?

Yes, his contract will slide unless he plays in at least 10 NHL games this season.

This signing makes me happy, Byron was always a guy that gave it his all every shift. In a way it made him a game changer in my eyes. He was a beauty in the month of March 10pts(5G) in 16 GP. A lot of his goals were also real difference makers, anyways he really bought me over last year! I realise I am 100% biased because he's a Flame, but welcome back to the lineup.

I like that a guy who busted his ass every opportunity got rewarded with a contract. Not convinced he's a long term piece but sets a good example

He's a hard worker on the ice. I'm happy to have him around the kids on the farm or even occasionally on the big club.

I know, I was referring to NHL forwards.

I like Byron but I hope he ends up in Glen Falls. All the talk of the young guys earning spots is valid, but NHL experience is a big part of them getting better, 2 or 3 seasons in the A is great but after a point you move them up or they will plateau in their development, needs to be a balance between stunting them and going full Oiler.

This post makes absolutely no sense to me at all.

If they outplay their competition they will earn their spot, if not having prospects spend another year in the AHL isn't a bad thing at all either.

Considering how much confidence Hartley has in Byron it makes sense for him to come back - as long as he plays the way he did last season he will play full-time minutes.

I would say our prospects have a better chance of taking a spot away from someone like Jones.
