I'm not as pumped about this as most.

Puts us at 46 contracts if I count right.....and that includes RFA's.
Then you subtract Billins who signed in the KHL, as well as Kanzig and Klimchuk who will likely be back in junior with sliding ELC's.
43 total as of now.

Poirier would slide as well unless he plays 10 games with the Flames

So only Colborne and Bouma left to sign among the RFAs, then the Flames should be done up front.

It won't slide if he plays pro, and by all accounts he is turning pro and will likely play in Adirondack this season.

Really pulling for him. He was great towards the end of the year, and at the very least, he sets an example for Johnny Hockey that with some beef and hustle you can be an NHL player. Cammalleri was a similar example, but he's gone.

Colborne, Bouma, Hanowski, Ortio and Cundari are all the RFA's left to sign.

Really pleased. Fact is, whether he is small or not, he deserves another deal after the way he played last season compared to much bigger guys like Jones and Bouma.

I am glad he got a deal. He deserves it after the way he played. Might be considered a 13th/14th man on the team, but he'll prove himself again why he deserves a roster spot.

contracts can only slide for 18 and 19 year old players.
So if a player signs a contract at 18, then yes it can slide twice.

Not as happy as most to see this. Likely means Gaudreau has to blow people's minds at camp to earn a spot.

Guarantee Gaudreau plays in the AHL first. I don't think we want to rush the kid.

Good. Earn a spot based on your play now, not what you've done in the past.
I fail to see any problem with that.

That's a Good Thing -- he needs to get used to the physical play of a professional mens league. There's absolutely *no* sense in rushing him anywhere.

You're bummed that this means Gaudreau will need to play well to make the team? Weird. If Gaudreau doesn't make the team cause of Byron, he needs some more time in the oven then anyway.
