Guys he's clearly going to be playing RW for us.
How else is he going to spinorama during all of them breakaways?

Today I am more concerned with term than dollars. For the Flames, a 3 year term works for what they are doing.

Good speed with a goal scorers touch around the net. Good versatility playing either wing. Not going to scare anyone physically but we got other guys to do that work, but at least he's tall enough to not get pushed around too much. Not sure where he slots in, but he's a good player at a decent price.
I'll take his 45 points for 3.15 million over Stastny's 60 points at 7 million thank you very much.

He plays a very soft game. I don't think we overpaid that badly, probably 500k or so, but if we get the Raymond that was in Vancouver I won't be happy.

Inconsistent, perimeter player. Hopefully he ups his game here

I don't think Byron is better than Raymond, I'm just thinking for the perspective of a rebuilding team.
Byron is 24 years old and scored at a .44 points per game pace. While Raymond certainly provides more offence (and probably will until he starts to decline), I just thought Byron fit the team better. I suppose Raymond is quite a bit bigger (but not physical).

Both are fast and strong PKers. Byron wouldn't have cost $3M. But I guess you have to reach the floor.

Nothing to be upset about, just something to consider.

I would rather have had Byron, until Raymond shows me what he has in the heart and character department. If he brings it every night then the Flames have just made a great signing...

Also we already know Byron was a good fit on the PK etc. so lets wait and see if Raymond does the same(and hopefully much much more).

Now all I have left to say is welcome to Calgary and I hope you enjoy your stay Mr. Raymond.

But Raymond >> Byron. Let's not sound ridiculous now.

Raymond was a good signing last year for the Leafs a better signing for the Flames at this point. I like it.

Understandable. I think the management was actually looking for an upgrade on Byron. Imo, we found a player as quick as Byron, can score a few more points than Byron, and his contract helps us reach the cap floor. I wish Byron the best, but Raymond is definitely an upgrade. Solid 3rd liner.

Our 3rd line now is probably Raymond - Stajan - D. Jones

 Just wish he shot right.

If the Flames want to sign 2nd/3rd line players like Raymond or depth defensemen to hit the cap floor, that's fine by me.
I like this signing because it doesn't really improve the team, it basically replaces Stempniak.

This is a guy that desperately wanted to be here last year, and finally got here this year.
Yes he's a softer player, but this team was going to be terrible offensively with Cams leaving a gaping hole in our scoring chart.

There's no doubt that Raymond can put the puck in the net and generate on offense.

The Flames still have to try to ice a competitive team and reach the floor.

Is this a home run signing, not at all. But he's a improvement over Bryon.

And if it gives us a guy that can beat defensemen on the outside and take and give dishes to out centers, I'm ok with it.
