Can't see it.

Iggy wants a shot at a cup, and Vancouver is trending down, big time. They have zero character to begin with and have lost pieces without replacing them. They don't even have a starting goalie.

Like last year, this is much ado about nothing.

I'm willing to bet that, at Iginlas age, he sure is liking that eastern conference travel schedule.

Or maybe it's just my way of blocking these Vancouver rumours from my mind.

If he picks Vancouver, it will for sure mean his priorities have shifted away from winning a cup before he retires to obviously prioritizing other things like lifestyle, proximity to family etc...

The only reason I can see Iginla considering Vancouver is it's closer to home, specifically his offseason place in Kelowna.

If his intention is a cup, however, returning to the Flames may be a better option in that regard. The Canucks are still very much on the downswing.

If Iggy goes to Van I'll eat my hat. I refuse to believe this would actually have a hope of happening.

At this point in time I don't care what Iginla does, he's earned the right to go where he wants. I love Iginla the player but I do not ever see him skating in a Flames jersey every again and I'm ok with that. Flames are in a good place and it is time to find our next "Iginla". I believe the Flames and Iginla have moved on.

I also don't see any true cup contenders being able to fit him on their rosters, Boston, LA, Chicago and Anaheim.

I love Iggy and will never forget that 2004 playoff run, but I'm ok with whatever he does at this stage of his career. We had him in his prime.

Iginla will not sign with a team that employes burrows. Or the Sedins.

The only good news in this is the clear indication that the Canucks still believe they are presently only a few pieces away. So long as they are convinced of their own potential to win now, I'm happy with that; but simultaneously praying that Iginla never touches that abomination of a jersey.

I'm not so sure. Iginla was an amazing hockey player, but I have often wondered about his ability to assess the game. Don't forget that for years right up until the Flames asked him to accept a trade, he was pretty insistent that this was a team that could win. Is it really too much of a stretch to imagine that he believes the same for the ageing, rotting Canucks?

Rumour being reported on the TEAM 1040 that Miller could fetch 5–6 years @ $5.5 m in Vancouver.

Crazy.

This pre-July schmoozing period has been interesting, there are what seems to be half the league in on every free agent.

Well, it's official, Gio, Wideman, Hudler and D.Jones are officially the highest paid players on the Flames....

Another way to put it, Wideman is officially the highest paid player on the Flames

One thing I can report with certainty: the Avs plan to make a strong bid for Jarome Iginla. We’ll see if they can land the 500-plus veteran goal-scorer, but the Avs are definitely in on Iginla.

He scored 31 goals last year. The man can still definitely play, and he’s great buddies with Joe Sakic. He would make a nice addition to the lineup. But a lot of teams will be interested in him, and the Boston Bruins still hope to keep him (though that seems far-fetched by now).
