Nothing surprising other than Byron. Did he get a QO or not? hmm.

Was hoping Galiardi would work out here, though. I wish him luck.

Now even Pat seems confused.

Surprised about Cundari. I thought he was out of the picture after being loaned out. I'm glad though as I think he has some upside.

The Calgary Flames website has him not being qualified if that counts for anything.

Wait isn't Billins going to the KHL? How does that work?

Edit: I get it, to keep his rights.

Pat Steinberg ‏@Fan960Steinberg Here's the release that says Byron HAS been qualified. Now website says no. Confused.

surprised at the reaction to Byron not being qualified. He was "okay" but nothing to write home about, and the size thing, there's just no place for him

Also, unless Hanowski is a hole to fill in the A I have no idea why they would retain him. I see nothing but wallowing in the minors/Europe as his future.

0.45 PPG while playing mostly on the 3rd and 4th lines and provided an element of speed to the team.

You should at least qualify him to keep his rights and see if another team has any interest.

Probably because Byron was gooning it up at the end of last season and we don't want to be playing that kind of hockey here.

A bit bummed that neither he nor Galiardi got qualified.

Flames need a guy like Byron, he'd be fine on defense even. Puts in %100 effort every shift, first guy into the corner, not afraid of getting roughed up and he plays 30 pounds bigger than he is.

That mentality is worth having around, when the other guys see this little Byron busting his ass just to earn a spot that will rub off on everyone. Let him just sit and replace anyone that's dogging it.

My guess is that Ward disliked Cundari and they see enough upside that they are willing to give him a shot with the new coach.

Guess Gaudreau is the only short player allowed on the Flames.

Wow, really bummed about Byron to be honest.

EDIT: Actually accepting that this is for the best, I like that it means more likely we see one of our star players from the A last year get a full-time opportunity. Here's to hoping.

Disappointed in Byron like everyone else. But on a team that was 4th last place, you just can't bring back all your fan favorites, especially undersized ones.
