the regehr trade now goes down as one of the worst trades made by the flames in a decade.

i think this one is the worst by a shade compared to the phaneuf trade.

Okay that's good. I was a little surprised considering the high praise that he received from Hartley. Not sure where he fits in, but I guess a lot of that will be determined by trades and free agency. Fortunately for him he is a utility player who can do pretty much everything.

I'm disappointed about Byron. 21 points in 47 games doesn't get you a contract? That's about the same points/gm as Monahan.

Obviously that's a terrible comparison, but really? Was he not worthy of a one year QO?

I wish the guy the best.

Well, let's hope. Byron is one of those players that can play in pretty much any position in the lineup (maybe excluding the top 3).

Yeah. Not qualifying Byron would have made zero sense

Sad about Byron but makes sense.

Glad to see the rest won't be back.

Why would you say that he had trouble earning a consistent spot? As far as I can remember he stuck in the line up after the Olympic break.

Pat Steinberg ‏@Fan960Steinberg Wait I'm confused. One release had Byron the other doesn't. #Flames

guess we'll have to wait and see.

Wow that's some serious Byron love - 23 replies in 6 minutes! Glad to hear it was a mistake and that he's getting a QO.

Edit: Ugh the plot thickens....

Paul Byron is exactly the type of player the Penguins should take a flyer on.

I would have let Chad Billins and Ben Hanowski go as well.

I'm glad the Flames kept Mark Cundari though. To bad for Byron but the Flames already have to many smaller forwards.
