Average Rating: 2.16
Best: Sergei Zubov, Milan Hejduk.
Ranked 7 or better: 6.0%
Ranked 5 or worse: 89.0%
At least 100 NHL games (or extremely likely): 24.0%

Yeah and, in a weak draft, instead of gambling with the pick we get a guaranteed 100 game player. Seems solid to me.

I watched a ton of Bollig vids since the trade, the dude knows his role and plays it exceptionally well. He does know what it takes to play on a cup team and is a protector. Glad to have him coming to this team and the argument of that could be Gaudreau or Brodie is moot because it could easily turn out to be a pick that never comes to be just like most pics after the top 10.

I think people have to remember that Blackhawk fans are spoiled. They've got an embarrassment of riches in terms of depth.

I hope you're right. By the way they are talking we didn't get much. I guess I should reserve my opinion until I see him play more, just dislike giving up assets for Bollig types.

Bollig isn't an all-star - he's a fourth line grinder - but seriously dude. You should try actually watching the players before inventing reasons to hate them.

Hawk fans are calling him that. Pretty sure they watched him more than you.

You are right I haven't watched him much, but as I already said Hawk fans know their players better than you do and they are calling this a

"typical Burke move"
"great trade for Hawks to get anything for Bollig"
"Bollig can't even fight anymore".

Honestly assessing players based on any fan base's opinion is a poor way to do it.

The fact that he dressed for 82 on a team very deep in forwards says something.

Word was his skating/speed/mobility kept him as a scratch in the playoffs. He should be fine for this group during the regular season.

Bollig boasts a 13-6-2 record in his 21 total fights at the NHL level losing to guys like Bisonnette, Neil and our very own McGrattan.

He played broken seasons between the AHL/NHL before finally locking himself a spot full-time on last years Hawks roster playing in every game through the reg and post seasons. Also through 18 games in his first season and 25 games reg / 5 games post in his cup winning season Brandon put up just 1 point (a playoff goal) in that time span. He improved to 7 / 7 for 14 points in 82 games and 0/1 for 1 point in 15 playoff games as a tough guy averaging around 10 minutes per game. I think his role expands a bit more here in Calgary and him alongside Bouma and Grats imposes a will we haven't seen for quite sometime in Calgary. If your coming into to town or hosting our team next year your going to have to earn those 2 points.

And have you seen what Oilers fans say about their players? Yakupov is the next Pavel Bure. I'm jealous. They watch him more than I do, so obviously they are right.

The Flames are screwed now, and Brandon Bollig isn't going to help stop a guy like Pavel Bure. Nice work, Burke. I guess we know who is really in charge.

Of course the Blackhawks fan base is going to say things like that.

Don't be daft, trust the coaches who played him all year and the GM who gave him a three year deal.

Also missed a couple games from being suspended for a hit from behind and played in 15.

Yes, I will shut up until I see him play more this year. Until then, I will not comment further. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

Here is a list of every legit NHL player drafted from 1990 to 2003 picked between 80th and 90th overall. Out of 151 picks, 24 played either 300 games or 100 games as a goalie. In my opinion any player who played less than that was a dime a dozen NHL/AHL tweener.

So 15.9% of players became 'impact' players. Slightly higher than I would have guessed without taking a look at the numbers. I'm still happy with the trade, I would say Bolig is almost a 100% chance of playing more than 300 games, and starts right away instead of years from now.

The list:

A teams own fan base can produce some of the worst assessments of players there can be. Player are either extremely over rated or undervalued by their own team fan base.

What a fan base that watches the player can do is have an excellent database of memories and insight of players.... but rarely do I see those in the comments it's more in the Butler sucks type of comments that is pushed to the forefront

Who are the similar players available in free agency, that provide what he does, at his age, and for whom you would not have to overspend? I see none.

This is a fine pick up. Improves our fourth line no doubt. Its a very minor transaction but it helps.

Would've preferred to trade a 4th or 5th for Bollig but those had already been dealt and better to deal a late 3rd in a weak draft than to have to move a 2015 pick later on.

Some are saying it's unwise to make this move when you're rebuilding. But really the opposite is true - you make this move BECAUSE you're rebuilding. The young guys need to be protected and Bollig isn't a goon. He'll take a regular shift and not hurt the team.

The guy scored 7 goals last year. TJ Galiardi had 4.
