He's listed on hockeydb as a centre - but everywhere else has him as a LWer...

A 3rd rounder? I don't know about that, but I like the contract and if the Flames keep going younger, having multiple guys to protect the skill guys, that's fine.

I also think he's an upgrade on Westgarth.

27 years old (will be 28 before the end of next season), and only 125 NHL games under his belt. Not old, but not a spring chicken.

I like these types of players, but a 3rd rounder seems steep when you can often just pick these guys off the scrap heap.

I have no issues with this trade. Bollig is an upgrade over Westgarth, and actually took a regular shift on one of the best team's in the league last season. In a weaker draft I can live with this move.

McGrattan.. Wolf.. Westgarth.. Bollig..

What are we doing, guys? Trying to be the calgary pluggers?

I wouldn't care so much what we did with this pick if we'd just have gone and taken a a solid d-man with #34. But they had some making up to do after that, and now they throw away this selection for a position we already have depth at. What is going on..

Bollig found a home on one of the elite teams of the NHL. I'm sure he will have no problem finding his spot on the Flames roster.
Hawks players really liked Bollig, high energy player that lead the Hawks in hits.

He's a much better player than Westgarth so I don't understand why fans would be upset about a move that improves the Flames roster over the season before.

If they signed Bollig as a free agent to this deal I wouldn't have liked it. The third round pick makes this just brutal

Bollig is a good pick up.

Those that think this is a stupid trade, have tunnel vision and don't watch hockey outside of Flames games.

With the nucks adding Dorsett to Sestito and Kassian I think the Flames really needed at least 2 guys who can fight.

Hopefully they resign Westgarth or add one more big guy who is a half decent player and round out that 4th line.

Bouma is not a 4th liner and should not be playing with Bollig and McGrattan.

Because we saw saw a finals in which the two teams made it there in large part because their 4th lines could not only play but contribute.

The days of having stiffs that play 5 mins on the 4th lline and offer nothing but pinching ability are gone.

Just because Bollig can fight doesn't mean that is all he does. He is a fine hockey player as well that can play 10 minutes and help your team.

But I doubt many of the chicken little's today care about reality when they can overreact all day instead.

I though we would get a better deal since chicago is 10 mil over the cap. But....meh.

Fairly solid pickup. Not to much to complain about in my opinion.

Bollig lead the Blackhawks in hits last year and by a lot. Considering he played 10 minutes per night, I think we have another buzz-saw!

203 hits last year, 33rd overall in the league. Nice.

Has also won a Cup.

If were going to have a rough go of it next year, teams will atleast remember who the flames are when they play them, and that's the first step.
