I think having a 4th line with him, McGrattan another another beast who can scrap is a really smart move, especially if Bennett comes into the team this year and a couple of the AHL kids break through
He's listed on hockeydb as a centre - but everywhere else has him as a LWer...
A 3rd rounder? I don't know about that, but I like the contract and if the Flames keep going younger, having multiple guys to protect the skill guys, that's fine.
I also think he's an upgrade on Westgarth.

I have no issues with this trade. Bollig is an upgrade over Westgarth, and actually took a regular shift on one of the best team's in the league last season. In a weaker draft I can live with this move.

What are we doing, guys? Trying to be the calgary pluggers?
I wouldn't care so much what we did with this pick if we'd just have gone and taken a a solid d-man with #34. But they had some making up to do after that, and now they throw away this selection for a position we already have depth at. What is going on..
Bollig found a home on one of the elite teams of the NHL. I'm sure he will have no problem finding his spot on the Flames roster.
Hawks players really liked Bollig, high energy player that lead the Hawks in hits.

He's a much better player than Westgarth so I don't understand why fans would be upset about a move that improves the Flames roster over the season before.
