I know Edmonton leaked that they were going to draft Draisaitl, but I though that it was an intentional leak to try and prevent anyone else in the top 5 or 6 from trading up to get Bennett.
I would bet that the Flames would have picked Bennett even if they were drafting 2nd.

I would bet otherwise after hearing Burke speak so highly about Reinhart. I love the Bennett pick, but if Reinhart was available I think he would have been the obvious choice.

Think Bennett has a good chance of captaining the WJC team this winter?
There will be a ton of returnees this year (Lazar, McDavid, Morrissey, Bigras, Gauthier, Petan, Horvat, Reinhart plus Drouin, Ekblad possibly) so doubtful to see him or any other first timer as captain.
I had to look at NHL.com to see who was selected to do Bingo's 2nd round role. I clocked out after we picked Bennett. Still pinching myself he made it to 4th, beyond excited.
I like Monahan against Draisaitl. And I love Bennett against RNH.
Backlund against Gagner... lol
The hype from Button and others talking about how this re-ignites the BOA is a bunch of rubbish. It's (along with the other "this is the year" tripe) been said for the last half dozen years and the Oilers haven't beaten the Flames in a season series except for once in the past decade, even with the "high flying Oilers" and all their top draft picks.
