he will earn the exact same amount for the next 2 seasons, production who knows...I say he is definitely over 50 points in ana.
Van is gonna struggle to score, Bonino was an AHL tweener before this past season so I suppose he is a bit of a wildcard

However, last year is a hard one to judge because of his injury problems. He was inconsistent but that could be attributed to not getting a chance to hit stride... Somewhat funny though that I can think of another guy to whom that comment applies to, and the Canucks just bought him out.

If you're getting scratched for Bryan Allen and the team is already down one of its top 6 guys, I'm going to guess you are pretty low down the depth chart and nowhere near top four.

Apparently Garrison has been dealt now as well.

They really are dismantling that team. Probably not a bad thing but they need to start getting better returns for their assets as they don't have a lot to show for Luongo, Schneider, and Kesler.
Edit: It appears a salary dump. Wonder who they are freeing up the cap space for?

Again - this year. He was basically godawful this past year. Previously, he has looked like a solid top 4 guy. Have the injuries eliminated that potential? Not sure.

It's awfully difficult to get excited about the return they got for their 2nd best player. The package revolves around Nick Bonino, and appears to be similar to what was being offered to the Senators for Jason Spezza earlier in the summer. Back then Travis Yost wrote the defining article on Bonino, with this being the money shot:" That quote feels so Ottawa, I'm stunned it didn't come directly from ownership or the front office through a local radio hit. Nick Bonino. Even if you assume there's another valuable piece in there, you are talking about an absolute disaster if the return is centered around a third-line center. And let's not kid ourselves here. That's what he is. He was riding the percentage-gods to the tune of 49-points last season, a year where a lot of things fell favorably for him. He's a 47% career Corsi% player in which his team performs better with him off of the ice, and averages less shots per game in his career than Colin Greening by a fair margin. And, uh, he's twenty-six."
Oof.

From what someone was saying yesterday, Garrison was not in the Canucks future plans. They likely dumped him for what ever Tampa offered.

In all honesty, likely no one (who is out there? I can't think of anyone). It's possible they may just be saying "If we're not making the play-offs any ways, why spend to the cap."
By "they" I mean the Aquilinis.

Which isnt terrible because didnt they sign him as a UFA? He cost them nothing but money and they got a 2nd rounder for him which isnt terrible.

Wrong thread. Although I could change the name Garrison for Kesler and it would still apply.

Pretty much.
It's a bit of a thing since I don't know why they dislike Garrison. He fits what model they wanted to follow (local boy, tough as nails and defensively responsible) but for some reason Benning decided he didn't fit their plans.
Strange.

Honestly this is a fair and reasonable deal. There was no way that people were going to give up a grade A asset for anybody above the age of 27.
Both teams walk out for the better but Vancouver has to face the bigger questions that have been there since the end of last season.

Modest return for Kesler. Going with a youth movement it looks like.
Kesler is getting close to the downside of his career with his injuries.

He was still their best forward last season injuries and all and he's one of those players that's value is far beyond points. He will contribute to the Ducks in ways Perry and Getzlaff could never. Truth is that he can miss half the regular season next year and it won't matter for the Ducks as long as he's healthy for the playoffs. He's enough to put the Ducks over the top IMO.

Not the over-payment that was being thrown around the last six months... but I've long maintained that dumping Kessler and his diving / crying persona is addition by subtraction.
If they were smart they'd get rid of Burrows at all cost as well.
Removing that soiled character-less element would be a step in the right direction. Hopefully they haven't fully figured that out yet.

Someone was saying he burnt a lot of bridges with teammates here by lying to them. The guy is all about winning a cup, and I don't think he cares about anything but.
