Reinhart has incredible IQ with the puck. Hangs on to the last second to make plays, can make plays out of nothing. Has a decent amount of flash, don't know which Reinhart you've been watching. Maybe a bit on the slow side, but thinks the play way ahead of the defenders trying to take the puck off him. Doesn't have a great defensive game, at least not when compared to players like Bennett. Uses his smarts more than his physical strength.
Monahan has great IQ without the puck. And he uses his body and strength well to get to the net when the puck is on his stick, but he doesn't have amazing playmaking skills and can't exactly dangle his way through the offensive zone. Has very little flash, but is effective because he gets himself in the right place at the right time to finish plays with little effort, which is still very impressive. Because of his positional smarts, he already has a pretty strong defensive game.
Other than them both being not the fastest skaters, there are certainly differences.

Well if it helps players like Baertschi, Klimchuk, Jankowski etc...Ferland, Colborne, Bouma and Wolf aren't top 9 players. Maybe Ferland, maybe.

Bouma and Colborne are acceptable 3rd liners too.
Edit: Add Granlund, Reinhart, and Backlund in that missing group of top 9 guys too.

Actually Monahan's playmaking was his most often mentioned attribute in scouting reports last year. I think he didn't show it this year mostly due to linemates and comfort level.
I'll copy ISS and Redline's reports on Monahan if you'd like. Rated aa the second best playmaker last draft behind Drouin by both this publications iirc.

Well, ignoring the immensely better offensive numbers, Reinhart is a much better two-way player. He dominated 5 on 5 which is a strong predictor for NHL success.
Draisaitl carried his team on his back with minimal help from any other forwards. He put up more assists than Ritchie had points.
Add to that, both play centre.
Plus, Ritchie's twitter handle is @ritchboiii.

I can see your argument, is it an absolute that the pick has to be a centre though?
Ritchie did have 39 goals in 61 games. Plays a style of game that the Flames are looking for in players going forward with the new management. Maybe Flames can grab another pick in the top 10 and draft two out of the three?

The freak out of taking Ritchie needs to end. Didn't somebody say that the Flames didn't meet with him much? I think they know he's not worth the risk. Besides the final decision should be up to Treliving.

Draisaitl had 38 goals in just 3 more games, yet everyone keeps thinking he's a pass only guy.
He nearly beat Ritchie at his own game while lapping him in assists with worse linemates.

After listening to Tod Button on the fan 960 a few minutes ago, He places Ritchie with Nylander, Kapanen, Dal Colle. It's still hazey and unclear as to who their top 6 is but I think Nylander or Kapanen is certainly one of them.
