Man, Button is like a cockroach. I'm pretty sure nothing could ever kill him. Honestly, though, it's a great sign that he has survived a few management changes, scouting is essential to an organizations success, so glad to have a guy that different managers feel is important enough to keep around.

I don't think Tod gets nearly enough credit for what he's done over the past few years. There's been a pretty up and down roller coaster ride within the organization since Button was hired on as the head scout, but I think his stability and the team's recent increase in trust in him has really helped stabilize our core of prospects since the rebuild has kicked in. The more resources and sway this guy has the better our drafting has become.

Meh. He's been in charge of scouting for a long long time, and we've had some pretty lame drafting for a long long time. I can only hope that those years of futility fall on other people's shoulders, people who aren't with the Flames anymore.

Perhaps under previous regimes, the scouting staff was told to focus on different skills sets or a different type of player. That or the draft was controlled by the GM completely or went against scouting advice. I think that changed under Feaster and hopefully continues under Treliving.

No TSN does not typically broadcast past the 1st round.
NHL network will be broadcasting on Saturday.
If you don't get NHL network you can listen to it on the fan 960

That I agree with, but from what's been discussed (and mainly hearsay) here on CP over the past few years, it really sounds that the scouting department really only got an uptick in resources under Sutter and Button/his team got a lot more pull in final picks under Feaster/Weisbord.

I think the whole regime direction is a little bit overblown. We still drafted Mitch Wahl and Dustin Boyd in early years, and big players like that beast last year in the 3rd (?) round.

What a refreshing change. Any time this guy speaks to the media I like what he says. From what I've gathered so far he's to the point and honest, without showing his cards. Seems to have some pretty good hockey sense and cares about what's best for the club.
Granted it's all pre-season, and he could just be saying the right things, but I'm really, really excited for the upcoming season(s).

There's definitely a reason he's survived all these regime changes over the years. If this draft goes well people will quickly realize that Feaster/Weisbrod had little to do with last years success at the table.

If it doesn't who do we blame scouts/Button or Treliving/Burke?
