Pretty average. Not fast, but not slow either.

I think it all comes down to what EDM does.
If they take Draisaitl, we take what is leftover from Sam/Sam/Ekblad.
If they don't, we take Ritchie.

Don't rip the guy for every word he says - he's doing hours of live radio each morning. Generational probably wasn't his best choice of words.

I realize that there's a huge swing of momentum happening about Ritchie right now but even the stats people were using to hype him him up still had him lower than Draisaitl. This is only my opinion but it would be incredibly stupid of the Flames to pass on Draisaitl for Ritchie.

With 960 pumping his tires all morning I wonder if they are setting us up for this guy being the Flames pick. The Flames attempt to keep fan uproar to a minimum in the event they pick him at 4.

Ritchie has disappointment of the draft written all over him.
Generational talent? Is this real life?
Barely put up a point per game in his draft year.

I'm sure he meant 'best player ever'.

It would be incredibly stupid for the Flames to pass on Draistaitl, one of the Sams or even Dal Colle but it seems fans are being set up just for that scenario with all this hype in hopes of softening the blow.

I really don't think anyone cares enough to try and "soften the blow" for fans. They might not know what they are talking about, they might legitimately like the guy, they might be creating a smokescreen (Burke all but said GMs lie this time of year), but I don't think they care what you or I think.

He's faster than you might expect, especially in straight line speed.
As someone who watched him a few times this year, I would like to draft Ritchie, but not with 4th overall. If we could somehow wrestle the Islander's pick from them, that would be ideal. Get one of the top 4 (likely a centre) and Ritchie. Plus I would likely see more Pete's games next year as I would have someone interesting to follow!

To get another top 5 pick, it would cost us (at least) one of Monahan, Gaudreau, Brodie, or Baertschi.
I value all of these players above Ritchie, and at that point, it would be a bad trade.

Not necessarily. The Isles are likely looking for more immediate help, now whether or not we have what they are looking for is another matter.
I like all of those players, but could be convinced to part with Sven for Ritchie.

I don't think a single one of our players over 21 (not named Giordano or Brodie) gets us a top 10 pick.

Likely not, but then again this is Garth Snow we're talking about

Actually, I think a Hudler + Sven would get a decent return imo. Not saying I'd move them, but I think we'd be able to get a 1st with those packaged.

I'd do Hudler and Sven for 5th. Hudler is a free agent in a couple years and were not competitive right now so I don't really see his loss as a big deal. Basically just asking yourself who will become a better player between Sven and whoever we draft at 5.

We'd definitely have to add to Sven and Jiri if the 5th OA is what we want.

Adding another mid level prospect, colorado's second, Wideman, any combination of those types of assets seems like it would be worth it. Only reason I think Islanders are a good target is because one they want immediate help which we can afford to give up, it's Garth Snow and it's the pick right after ours.
