In the interview with Bennett's coach that FDW posted up a few pages back, he remarked at how good he thought Ritchie was. He stated that practically every other prospect has at least another good player to play with, and that Ritchie did not, but was still getting decent numbers. As soon as his team acquired someone else to play with, Ritchie's numbers shot through the roof.
I'm glad that at least a few other posters are starting to read and listen to what scouting resources out there are saying about him. I still can't say he is my favorite pick at 4, but I wouldn't exactly be disappointed either. Many sites are saying he could be the best player in the draft. As for all the Kassian comparisons - not even close. Read Kassian's scouting reports and numbers (and look where he finished amongst his teammates) and compare those to Ritchie's. Night and day in every regard, other than size.

Ritchie had 32 points in 34 games before Peterborough acquired Hunter Garlent, and then 42 points in 27 games after that. Their first game together was January 9...The effect was strongest at the beginning.
January (starting 1/9) - 8 GP, 16 PTS
February - 11 GP, 16 PTS
March - 8 GP, 10 PTS

All I know is if we draft Bennett and he isn't allowed to wear Gilmour's old #39, I will be furious.

He'll probably wear #93 - that always seems to be brought up in interviews.

Not with Burke's rule about no high numbers. #39 might be allowable though...

I think he would go back to #9 as that's what he was before he changed to #93 before he got drafted to Kingston. Would look good on a center too, Duchene-esque.

Not on the Flames - Unless some kind of exception was made
Is this new player number rule for real? I think if the Flames got Bennett an exception would be made - there's a great story behind wearing #93

Nope, since Burke only allows numbers from 1 to 35

Doh, didn't even think before posting. Touche.
But yeah, I certainly hope Burke backs off on this type of thinking, it really has never served any purpose, especially in the new NHL where it's so common.

Who knows? Maybe he could turn into the guy that everyone passed on.

He's got the right nasty attitude and size to be a Lindros type player, but Ritchie isn't putting up 2-3ppg in the CHL.
I think he could end up being a good player, and if Jankowski ever develops, it would be nice to have a line of big kids, but I would feel better with a Sam, or ze German

I think there is a decent chance Ritchie has a higher ceiling than the consensus top 4. I also think there is a decent chance he doesn't reach his ceiling.

It may sound like a wonky thing to say, but on paper, his stats suggest he should actually be talked about in the same company as P. Kane, Stamkos and Tavares.
Check this link out: http://lastwordonsports.com/2014/06/...whl-big-board/
The above link suggests Richie is right there with the top 5 goal scorers of the last 10 drafts. Of course, those top 5 went on to become stars in the NHL.

If Ritchie hits his peak upside he will be unreal. His overall skill is pretty good, great shot, great size, good speed. I understand why they have him in their top five.

I wonder if the Oilers could take Ritchie. They desperately need size and toughness in their top 6, and Ritchie covers both of those.

For those that have seen him actually play, is Ritchie a fast skater?
