"Drafting Nick Ritchie"has become the new "Is Gaudreau going to sign". Only one more week to wait!

Me too. I'm not a fan of him as our pick, but if they move out parts to get another high pick and take him, I can live with that risk.

Three great choices at center, don't draft for size at number 4.

What I don't understand is how Treliving/Conroy have said things like, "I think everybody has the same top 5 guys, but probably in 30 different orders." And yet they have Ritchie in their top 5, and there's no way all 30 teams have Ritchie in their top 5. There are probably very few who do.

No way would the Flames get the 5th overall pick for Hudler and a 2nd. Maybe Baertschi, Hudler, and the 34th pick would do it?

If we acquired the 5th pick as an extra pick, I'd much rather we take Ehlers, our game breaker, than Ritchie.

Then they can keep it. Adding Sven would be a huge overpayment.

No way Ehlers will be a better player than Ritchie.

I'd personally rather see us take Ehlers over Richie too. Zero chance it happens though since we have such a hard on for size now.

Maybe we can draft him and then put him on the rack.

You want to torture a newly drafted prospect?
That's messed up.

In the interview with Bennett's coach that was up on the fan the other day, he was saying that Ritchie's production went way up when his team acquired a talented center to play with him. Had he played the whole season with a talented center, his ppg could have been even higher.

If we are ignoring the size factor, what exactly has Ehlers done to show that he is more skilled than Ritchie? From what I've read, Ritchie has very good skill as well. Isn't it possible that Ritchie might be ranked higher than Ehlers because he is a better skilled player(or close enough that his size gives him the edge)? Being big doesn't necessarily equate to being less skilled and less of a game breaker.

I don't know if anyone would say that Ritchie is more purely skilled than Ehlers.

That would be a red flag for me, Top 10 draft picks should make other players better..sounds a bit dimensional.

Great even strength stats by Ritchie but not so great on the PP.

No, to make him taller so the bigger-is-always-better school will be satisfied.

I'm willing to bet his new linemate probably benefited as well, its usually not a 1 way street in that regard.
Some quotes I found while searching for Ritchie reviews:
"His hands in close are fantastic, but he's also a great playmaker who sees the ice and can make his linemates better."
"Offensively, scouts describe his shot as anywhere from "excellent" to "erratic," but the consensus opinion on Ritchie is that he is a player that makes his teammates better and can drive offensive for his line mates while not always for himself."

His new linemate was a guy he played with before including lacrosse. Instant chemistry
