I hate crappy parkers too, but there is somewhat of a reasonable explanation to this. That is a Megacab Longbox dually. The picture doesn't properly convey how massive that truck is. It is way too long and wide for a conventional space. That truck is an absolute behemoth and even if it was parked conventionally, it is going to take 2 spaces, as it is so long, it will hang out into the driving lanes if parked straight in. Also it would take surgical driving skill to swing that into a stall without clipping someone. The parker did the right thing to prevent damaging someones car, it is just the proximity to the front of the store that is the parking foul. The 'sensible way to park it, would to be park it as seen in the photo, but in a far, unoccupied, corner of the lot. Judging by the fact it is near the shopping carts, which are usually near the door, that courtesy wasn't extended.
edit: That particular parking lot at that Co-op (Macleod trail) is pretty much full all the time, and has very little 'dead space' based on the layout of the surrounding strip malls. This is pretty much a 'Kobiyashi Maru' parking scenario for the driver of the truck.

Sounds like his first ###### move was buying that truck in the first place.
That is exactly the type of grocery getter a guy needs.

It is a big truck but that actually is not a Mega Cab. The Mega Cab has about 6 or 8 inches in additional sheet metal at the rear of the cab.

He could just go in at a slight angle and take up 2. The angle would mostly negate the length... as far as I'm concerned he's basically taking up 4 spots cause nobody is probably going to get in behind him there.

Someone should have parked behind him so he couldn't get out.

Went to the Dawgs game this afternoon. They were losing 6-2 in the 8th inning when they halted the game due to rain. Screw I said and I left figuring the Dawgs were toast. Find out that after a 30 minute rain delay they scored 3 in the bottom of the 8th and 2 more in the bottom of the 9th to pull out a 7-6 victory! Damnit!!

I have a really important deadline early next week that I've been working my ass off to meet. My department is having a day-long team building event later this week that I was planning on skipping due to my tight schedule & that I didn't want to have to come in this weekend. Boss comes in and informs me that attendance is mandatory, and not going to the team building event = not being a part of the team. Corporate BS RGMG, and there goes my Saturday.

I could be wrong, but I am of the impression that it is illegal to leave the hitch on your truck when you are not connected to a vehicle. He has that thing sticking out almost 8 inched beyond the bumper.

Mandatory work related event on a day off? Smells fishy. Time to bust out the ol' family member is sick and I have to take care of them excuse.

On the topic of parking. This happened to me last year after I left a client meeting, had to wait over an hour for someone to move their vehicle. I couldn't even yell at them as they pulled away when I got tired of waiting and went for a Tims coffee. No idea whom was the second vehicle that boxed me in, but it RGMG that common sense was not applied.

You say the second vehicle boxed you in- does that mean you pulled in that close to the vehicle in front of you?

Nope, it was wide open when I parked there.
I even called Parking Authority and they said there is nothing they can do. As long as they are legally parked and not blocking an alley or anything there is no mandate on how close you can park to each other.

The most amazing thing about that photo is the fact that I don't see any rust on the wheel well. What kind of magical unicorn Protege 5 is this?
(Please tell me there is rust on the other side and/or around the nameplate on the lift gate)

That really sucks.
The proper reaction to that has nothing to do with the Calgary Parking Authority and everything to do with the sharp end of your car key.

No rust on the name plate, but yes there is car cancer on the wheel wells and starting by the bottom doors.

Sounds like a cup of piss poured down the leading edge of the windshield into the vents is in order.
