Got an email saying that details of Rogers coverage next season should be happening later today. It's Sunday Night Hockey show will also be talked about.

Does anyone know what Cuthbert and Miller will be doing during hockey season now?

Will a Canadian fan base be spoiled and get them as their regional PBP team?

I assumed TSN would pick up the CHL contract as well as the Memorial cup, maybe even add some US college hockey to the mix?

In February, Sportsnet signed a 12 year extension with the CHL to continue carrying regular season and playoff games as well as the Memorial Cup.

Yes, they will be calling regional games. The teams they will be calling games for has not been announced. Miller, along with Mike Johnson will be calling national games in the USA on NBC and NBCSN.

Chris Zelkovich wrote an excellent blog on the changes coming up next season for its national package of NHL games. Here is an excerpt from the blog.

The other big change involves the addition of the Sunday night package, which will feature a Canadian team every week but one -- the day after all Canadian teams play on Hockey Day In Canada. And that annual event is what the Sunday game on City will resemble.

A million-dollar mobile studio will travel coast to coast and cover 26 different cities -- places like Red Deer, Kelowna and Kingston -- with the sites having some key tie to that night's game. MacLean will host that night's show, something Moore says, ``elevates things to a different level."

Man, TSN just did the top 50 plays of the year... when they got to the Berra highlight, might have been the only Sportsnet feeds in the package, it was so painfully quiet, it sounded like a library.

God, 12 years!

Sportsnet's audio isn't the best but a lot of the blame for a quiet Dome goes to the fans that go there.

Crowd noise during TSN games at the Dome is significantly louder. It's the production ... and yes we have quiet fans a lot.

Games on CBC and TSN were significantly louder than on Sportsnet, and I don't think it was the case of the matchups causing more energy. There were some exciting games on Sportsnet that may not have been as loud as it should've been on the TV.

What could be more Canadian than watching endless American TV??

Only if you do it with enough self-consciousness and an air of superiority.

Globe story about just how badly CBC effed up the negotiation. Bettman even offered to let CBC keep HNIC double headers, including Toronto or Montreal for the first game, and they'd figure out a price later - but they would have to give up the exclusivity and allow all games to be broadcast. CBC's hubris was such that they instead tried to dictate to the NHL, even after being told things were changing.

Wow... I just feel so bad for everyone involved after reading that. Some hack lawyers took a Canadian institution away because of hubris and incompetence. Awful.

Wow could CBC executives have handled that any worse? They literally played Russian roulette with the livelihood of hundreds of employees and lost. Of course the people responsible for the mess (Hubert Lacroix, Jeffrey Orridge, and Neil McEneaney) somehow still have their jobs.

I would imagine there are a few executives at TSN that aren't exactly popular around the network as is seems they also felt like they had more leverage in negotiations than they thought.

Does suck for those employees who lost their job for sure.

But for us fans, wow, having all this choice on a Saturday night is awesome. Not stuck with just a single game without having to pay for NHL Centre Ice. Pretty happy with the whole Saturday night treatment that SN has given hockey so far.

Wow, the CBC made a huge mistake after receiving a nice gesture from Bettman and the NHL to let them keep a Saturday double header before selling the remaining rights to the highest bidder.

I was always wondering why the CBC made such a horrible deal and if there was any benefit at all. Now it is clear they went begging to Rogers and all they are getting in return is being able to rent out office space.

It's great we have options but I loved the 8pm start times. 5pm is just a bit too early for me. Especially with two young boys.

Sure, but St. Louis was never going to host a game starting at 9pm local.

Exactly. In the past that game would have had to be at noon (outside of the protected window so it could be on Sportsnet) because CBC would never send a crew to St. Louis.
