You said he intrigued you as well so I assume his welcoming smile and confidence was what turned your key. Probably much more attractive to you than a handsome dude that was acting a shy or awkward. Problem is that a lot of us can't handle being rejected or embarrassed in public or trust me this would be more of a regular occurrence.

He approached a girl and works in IT? I'd guess again.

One tweet I saw with that hashtag was something to the effect of "Because it's easier to give out a fake number than to deal with a guy you've rejected"

Is that guy a ventriloquist cause it must be hard to start a conversation while on the 69?

I've never been cold approached (probably because I have my b*tch face on 90% of the time. I'm actually a semi-nice person, I just don't look it!) in public. I got asked out at work yesterday but that's as far as it gets for me.
But seriously, if a guy had enough balls to cold approach me I'd give him my number (probably). And the right one.

I laughed so hard at this. Maybe because I am in IT and considered one of the more extroverted and sociable in the group, and yet back in the day my wife had to pick me up. Add to that I almost let her get away cause I spent so much time over analyzing what to say I came off a bit awkward (she felt like I was ignoring her)
Luckily I recovered just enough to ask for a date, and she was really forgiving, cause there is no way I think that conversation would have worked 9/10 looking back.
All I can hope is that she doesn't leave me cause I pretty much would resign to the hermit life, haha.

Off topic, but as someone with a lot of tattoos, I've never met someone with tattoos that didn't find that line of questioning excruciating. It's one of my biggest pet peeves.
Maybe you're just adorable enough to get away with it.

I grew up in PEI with a "party line" for all you city dwellers that always had the privilege of your own line, a party line in our case had 4 houses on one number, each house had a different ring tone.
I'm sure some old ladies or housewives had a good time listening in to some steamy teenage conversations

Any time I've tried this, it turned out pretty badly. I haven't in quite a while, and likely won't again.

can you elaborate why? most people I know that have tattoos get them because they have a personal meaning and if you are sincerely being curious about them love telling you what they are why they got them and what they mean to them.

Never really cold approached a complete stranger. But I have "cold approached" friends of friends at bars or at parties. I've also been the wingman for my buddy. He'll cold approach a girl and I'll try to keep her friend entertained.
My way seems to work, plus I'm too chicken to approach a girl I don't know.

It might be easier to text people or find someone online, but they still need to meet them and know how to converse
I'm part of the young crowd and I see so many of my friends fail miserably when attempting to even just carry a conversation with a female, its sad. The ease of texting is making people losers with no social skills
I'm glad I found my gf/future wife early in life, I couldnt imagine having to attempt meeting people on the internet, and I hate talking to anyone by text

I met my wife like this. I was working security at the Calgary airport and saw a beautiful girl at the door with this dude. I was thinking this girl is way to pretty to be with this guy, turns out I was right as her friend came out of the bathroom and gave him a kiss goodbye.
He was pretty upset so I talked to him for a bit and mentioned the girl he was with was cute and asked if she was with someone. He said no and remembered he forgot to give them $5 for parking. I told him I will help him out and run the $5 to the girls as he was through the checkpoint.
I went out and my first words were "I guess your friend forgot to give you money for parking so I had to come out here to meet you". We started chatting and have been best friends and a couple ever since we talked on the phone that night. Now married with 2 kids.

Oddly I've never cold approached a girl that was alone. But I'll go and talk to a group of random girls.
