Why would LA trade for his rights when they can just sign him in July? An extra week to sign a guy isn't that important.

I'm sure management has/will look into it, but it's not like Cammalleri is going to be the hugely sought-after free agent this summer. Guys like Vanek, Moulson, Vrbata, and Stastny will likely be higher on most teams' lists. Probably not a whole lot of reason to toss away assets for a few days/weeks of negotiation.

With him likely not signing with us, is it possible for us to get a prospect or draft pick for Cammy's rights? I think Anaheim or LA would be a good fit.
LA needs some skill and a someone that can score goals.
Anaheim having a Cammy - Getzlaf - Perry line would be lethal.
Best case scenario would be Anaheim really valuing Cammy and trading their 28th overall for him, but that's not going to happen because it's too risky to trade a really good pick for a player that possibly won't sign with you, (right Snow?). Maybe we can do a conditional pick with LA or Anaheim. California would be a good destination to go for Cammy, they both are safely slotted as SC playoff contenders for the next 3 years in my books.

12 million for 3 years is a lowball offer, design to show, - well we tried.
He gets 15 million on the open market.

There are a lot of UFA forwards this year, and not sure why Cammy would be at the top of the list for most teams. Doubt this happens, but would welcome it if it did.

See above. If Burke wasn't able to get a first (or even a second if some of the rumors are true) for 20 games + playoffs of Cammy, how can he be expected to get the same for the right to talk to him? If Anaheim really wants him, they'll either toss us a 5th for his rights or just make the best pitch (dollar offer + situation) come July 1st.

think you may be overvaluing the value of trading an unsigned asset pre-draft. I'd assume flames would be lucky to get a late pick (5th rounder or later). Even that likely would be conditional on him signing.

It was just a question. I think it's fair to say that his value did go up post trade deadline. I agree that the pick will be conditional.

The only way I see him being traded is if he signs an extension with the flames and then they retain some if his salary. No one will just trade for his rights just to negotiate with him for an extra week, he just isn't that good

New Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving said he's met with UFA-to-be Mike Cammalleri, but it was more of a feeling-out, get-to-know-each-other conversation than a serious discussion about numbers. You never know until the offers get exchanged, but the two sides are going to give it a shot.

He isn't re-signing here, this is just the motions that both sides have to go through.

I really doubt he's re-signing here, but I'd love to have him back. I think last showed just how much of a leader the guy is and how good of a role model he is with the young kids. Every time a prospect or young guy gets interviewed, they bring up his name. He even had an impact on Gaudreau and he only played one game.
I doubt it's about money for Cammy, but I'd be willing to overpay for that kind of leadership.

I too would like him back, but I do think the term is the toughest hurdle. It will be very interesting to see what others offer, but I am inclinded to keep his rights and give him a decent offer (maybe 3 years, 12-15mm). If another team crushes it, good for Cammy. If not, perhaps we can still sign him even on a one year deal.

They know he's leaving, so they're saving those extra A's to put on the front of the Backlund jerseys.

Sorry if we have to sacrifice a small player for the greater good of small players on this team, I am ok with Cammy moving on..
Definitely aren't going to be able to have Cammy, Byron, Gaudreau, Baertschi, Hudler etc on a Burke team.. And I definitely don't want to trade Gaudreau or Baertschi.. Also still not exactly sure what we have in Byron..
