R.J. Umberger, Blue Jackets agree he’s done in Columbus.

R.J. Umberger was a healthy scratch four times down the stretch for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Coach Todd Richards said it was because he wanted more speed in the lineup.
It’s a decision that has Umberger speeding for the exit.
The veteran forward requested a trade from the Blue Jackets, and GM Jarmo Kekalainen will apparently honor the request, according to Aaron Portzline’s sources.
I'm glad they all agree... I think Kekalainen will only be honouring the request if he pays to get rid of him. A bit too slow to be much use, but if the flames found a way to ditch Jones and could upgrade Pitt's 3rd for CBJ's 2nd, I'd welcome him.
They could... If they send the Flames their first round pick as well
I'd be willing to do it for two seconds (2014 CBJ, 2015 Leafs) and the pick they get from the Kings for Gaborik (will be somewhere between 56th and 63rd)

Rather keep David Jones. At least he is much faster and also big. Just need to use his size. Reason for Umberger being scratched the last 4 games was because of his speed (not fast enough). That is something the Flames are trying to improve on.
trading Jones now would be to do so when his value is at a low. If he puts together a 30 to 40 game stretch where he actually skates and hits, especially if that period encroaches on the trade deadline, his value will skyrocket if the Flames eat salary on it.
I think he could be a huge trade chip for us. I'll be watching what kind of shape he shows up in at training camp.

Your talking about David Jones right? Must be a typo on the 30-40 game stretch where he skates and hits, you meant 3 or 4 games right? Love to be wrong but David Jones is gonna be here for a bit unless we buy him out. I don't hate him nor like him. He is purely roster filler and cap hit we need. One of the few guys that has not earned his spot on this team, his contract warrants we play him. Him and Shane Obrien, good sized boys that if played to potential could of paid dividend, but will never.

Trading Jones now makes no sense since the return will not be worth it - at the worst he is our 3rd line RW, and if he gets on a streak, he can provide secondary offence. Also, if he gets on a streak, we can sell high, rather than at his lowest value. If Umberger had 2 years rather than 3, he would be worth grabbing in a cap dump trade to get an asset (young player or pick), but with 3 more years, his contract runs into when we want to start to ramp up to contention. At least Jones is done by then

I wouldn't tar him with the same brush as SOB. O'Brien is just terrible. Jones can be pretty good but is worn-down and broken.
Jones has shown flashes of ability. When he's healthy (lol) and confident he's exactly the sort of player we desperately need on this team. Having him on the roster allows us to stay nearer the cap floor, and it's a gamble that could pay off if he finds a bit of luck (or an adamantium skeleton.)
Haven't really paid attention to Umberger but what happened to him? In the past he was inconsistent but he was a pretty decent producer especially in the playoffs.

I haven't really watch any Columbus game. I think he had problem with injuries (back, shoulder and had concussion). I am not positive on that. It doesn't help his trade value also when head coach Todd Richard was saying he is not fast enough to warrant the healthy scratches in the playoffs. Teams these days are either looking for speed or big guys who can hit and score. I know he is 6'2" but with back and shoulder problem teams might shy away from him especially with his ridiculous amount of salary in the next 3 years.
