Don't think Gaudreau meant to get the puck to Jones. Kind of deflected to Jones.

I'd wager there is a lot of hand wringing and face-palming going on in Nashville's management offices.
How do you think the Predators are going to fare trying to play river-hockey like this?

Yeah, that looked more like the Kazakh player knocked it off his stick and it got to Jones.

I mean, they might be in the McDavid sweepstakes, so not bad?

I'm with you on this, it slips from his ''handle'' but still an awesome play.

I thought he was knocked off the puck, and it went to Jones, but no matter - go on the sheet as primary assist

So, has anyone else stopped even trying to have realistic expectations for Johnny?
I know this game was just Kazakhstan, but he's been the best player on a team filled with NHLers. He dominates at every level he plays at. I give up, the kid is pretty much a guaranteed NHL player in my eyes.

Makes up for all the quality chances he created that his teammates couldn't finish.

No question.
The only question is if that starts in September next year.
I say no, that he will see a quarter season minimum in the AHL, but what do I know...

Am I the only one that can see Johnny getting 60 or more points? I can see him hitting a 25G-35A. And the Kariya comparable can possibly be the real deal with Johnny. And if he turns out to be like Paul Kariya, (who in his first 82 game season reached 108 points), we are all going to be happy Flames' fans.
Really, really, really hard to temper expectations.

Well to be fair the Predators have a much better D+G than what the US is icing at the WC.
Don't think they will win more games under Laviolette compare to Trotz, but I think their fans will be a lot more entertained.

Jones Trouba and Gaudreau have all been standouts for USA.

I can still seem him spending time in the AHL next year, just to get used to the grind of the pro game, but he is going to be in NHL soon.

Oh definitely, I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the AHL for at least part of next season, but I still don't see any way he isn't an effective NHLer in the next year or so.
