Are you forgetting who we are talking about here? Klown and MacTipsy.... Way to go, you gave them answer.

Horak, Hartikainen, Rajala... and Lander will probably be the next to jump ship
The Oilers are quickly becoming a Euro tweener graveyard

Why would any young euro player ever want to join the Oilers...?
|
Oilers just re-signed Lander today
http://oilers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?...id=DL|EDM|home
probably another factor on why Horak went to the KHL. Lander and he played similar roles for the Oilers

I don't think he was overvalued by Flames fans, he was generally regarded as a tweener and a long-shot to stick in the NHL, but we liked him anyway. How can you not like a player who worked hard, had a good attitude and played a 2 way game.
And we wanted him to succeed to rub Erixon's nose in it.

Yeah he was and the evidence is in the prospect rankings thing we did over the summer where guys like him and Cundari were ranked ludicrously high by fans.

Horak made a good impression in his first camp. We were pleasantly surprised that he looked like a hardworking guy who can play in the NHL. I don't remember anyone making ludicrous predictions about his career.

I think it is also fair to say that, in general, the organization didn't seem to have a strong motivation to stick through it with Horak. I got the feeling that there was an underlying reluctance to champion his development for reasons that were not derived solely from his performance on the ice.
I hope the best for kid.

My how some have short memories. Most of you ranked him higher than Granlund and Reinhart last summer. The proof is there;

Horak was further along in his development. Reinhart wasn't putting points up and we knew nothing about Grandlund's ability to adopt to NA hockey.
Perhaps Horak could still become an NHL player, who knows.
No crystal ball.

No just proving that fans here overrated Horak. At least I can go back to those threads and pick out the posts where I was saying the same things then as I am today that he was going to be an AHL tweener.

I dunno. I felt both guys were better prospects at the time without the use of a crystal ball.

Well what you showed is Flames fans did not consider him a top 10 prospect..... I don't know if I'd say that overrated. When you are looking down that depth chart, arguing over a 11th ranked and 12th ranked is quite marginal, so I don't think it proves squat.

Some saw Horak as being closer, without understanding how quickly players can rise or drop. Going with what you know is the law of the jungle in the NHL, which is why many young players never get their chance.
For the record, I selected Granlund early, just as I did with Reinhart, but I completely understand why people would have liked Horak over two players coming off of less than inspiring years.

Great in the ECHL, abysmal in the AHL. You might want to wait a few years yourself before you start bragging.
That said, I think he will undoubtedly have an NHL career. The long term question is whether the Oilers organization Dubnyks him.

Who's bragging? As with most trades, the ultimate result usually can't be determined for a few years.
Check my posting history - I call a spade a spade when it comes to the Oilers.
