As I said yesterday, it's nice to have slam dunk resources so close to USA Hockey and Hockey Canada. Excited for this hire.

Not going to pretend I know about about this new GM, but the fact that it's not McPhee is enough to make me pretty damn happy.
I'm sure Burke knows what he's doing.

Seems like a decent hire. I'm really happy that Burke didn't give the job to his buddy McPhee.

Like most I am happy with this move. I don't know enough specifics about whether this guy was a better choice than the others mentioned (Futa, Benning etc) and will trust that Burke and co had access to the info to make that determination.
I'm really just happy with the big picture in hiring a young, up and coming guy who by all accounts works very hard and is a more modern thinker. I was a little concerned that we would be recovering someone from the scrap heap.

The way I see it, his resume is better than Futa and Benning. Has accomplished more in such a short time in professional hockey.

Biz would be interesting, but unnecessary I guess. I think he'd be a great team guy

Ya, I like this too. That stands out to me as being a big positive. Here is hoping some of our guys can get into those two programs over the next few years.

Bissonnette is a feminine hygiene bag, I'd take McGrattan over that clown every time.

I don't know much about him but I do like what I'm reading about having a modern approach. Should be interesting to hear what his vision is and how much he'll have to align it with Burke's.

Good to have the new GM before the draft. Another bright mind to deliberate and discuss on the strategy for the Flames and how they handle their assets at that time.

He has been general manager in waiting for a number of teams now these past 12 months, Brad Treliving, the assistant to the Phoenix Coyotes’ general manager Don Maloney. Treliving had previously been linked to the opening with the Buffalo Sabres and on the weekend, concluded negotiations with the Calgary Flames to assume their vacant GM’s post.

It's worth noting, too, that the Central League has shrunk from 17 teams when Treliving left to 10 teams today. Apparently he was not an easy man to replace.

Agreed. That is pretty impressive.
I'm thinking he receives a lot of good business advice from his father, something that won't hurt in his new tenure as our GM either.
I like this hire.
