Bergeron should win with Kopitar not far behind.

I just want to know why Nugent-Hopkins didn't get nominated. It's criminal!

Vote was split between him, Hall, Eberle and J. Schultz (who is deemed as a 4th forward and thus, eligable for the award).

These three bums all came up the middle.

Best defensive forward! Ha!

"Hey...arent you just a defenceman?"

"Ummm.....no?"

This award has become the "best two-way forward award". All these players can score. There may be better defensive forwards that don't score much at all.

I would agree, although for guys like Bergeron and Toews I'm not sure that's true. While being able to put up good (not crazy PPG) numbers, they are elite on the d-side as well.

But the Norris has gone that way as well. Sad really, to see PK Subban dubbed the best dman made me almost vomit. Weber, Suter, Chara, Doughty, Keith, Pietrangelo would be on my list before Subban, could probably think of a few more too.

	| GOAT! |

Remember when this award used to be about the best defensive forward, instead of the best forward with the best defensive stats?
I blame Federov for being so damned good at almost every aspect of the game, that he actually destroyed the bar for every other defensive forward after him. Although, I think Draper and Lehtinen won it after him, so maybe it's not that bad. Datsyuk probably gets some of the blame then too, I suppose.

What stats typically affect this award? I assume +/-, faceoff%, blocked shots? What else?

Take aways is probably a big one. This and the Norris would be the toughest to determine purely on stats. Defensive prowess is hard to nail down in a stat.

Which is why a large part of this award is based on reputation.

I just hate that the Norris almost always goes to the defensemen with the most points in the NHL... So many of the other factors are ignored.

While true, I don't think you can argue with any of the candidates.

30 winners east of the Mississippi. 1 from Pacific time zone. 0 from mountain time zone. St. Louis (1) and Dallas (3) are fairly central too.

I'm pretty surprised by the who the 3 finalists are.
I thought Yakupov would be in the mix.
