This is about Russia having a don't mess with texas attitude combined with a security concerns strategy, and if it destabilizes NATO then that's an added bonus.

From what I've seen the economy in the region is becoming very command based. Russia is literally buying up the industries of the former Soviet states.

The Russian military strategy has always been about building buffers around its major cities. Moscow is in the middle of a giant plane. It's pretty impossible to defend. The only strategy is to have a buffer you can withdraw from and use to slowly bleed out an invading army.

Russia is also about the long game. They'll spend decades taking back one territory at a time.

I'm quite shocked they are being so military aggressive. Their plan of taking over the economies and political structures of their neighbors seemed to be working.

Jews in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk where pro-Russian militants have taken over government buildings were told they have to "register" with the Ukrainians who are trying to make the city become part of Russia, according to Israeli media.

Jews emerging from a synagogue say they were handed leaflets that ordered the city's Jews to provide a list of property they own and pay a registration fee "or else have their citizenship revoked, face deportation and see their assets confiscated," reported Ynet News, Israel's largest news website.

Not to defend Putin, but I doubt that the orders for that are coming from Moscow. It's probably people from a pro-Russian irregular militia. Those militias tend to be pretty right wing and extreme.

They may not have given that direct order, but they know who they're supporting and who they have their troops in the country helping.

No, no... I think Putin should be stopped by all means necessary. I'm just not sure you can directly blame him for everything that Russian hillbillies in Ukraine are doing. I am sure a lot of those guys were just waiting for some anarchy so that they could promote their anti-Semitic agenda.

Russia has many Jews and I don't recall Putin being involved in anything like that in Russia before, so I have doubt that those orders are from the top. Now if the Russians with Putin as the commander, assume the security responsibilities of the area and allow it to continue, then for sure he would be personally responsible.

That oblost was in the middle of Siberia and had more in common with an open air prison camp.

Ethnic nationalism is back in a big way in Russia. And it's not just Jews who are the victims. Very ironic that there are so many neoNazis in Eastern Europe. Hitler viewed Slavs and Russians as genetically inferior and fit for slave labour followed by extermination. These people need a history lesson.
