Gaudreau has great numbers but people shouldn't just dismiss Gerbe. His numbers are fairly close to Johnny, not quite as high but still outstanding. Gaudreau's freshman season is the only one that really separates them.
even excluding the freshman year.. its not that close:
2nd year:
47 in 41 games for Gerbe
51 in 35 for Gaudreau (if he had played 41 games he'd have 60 points - 13 more)
3rd year:
68 in 43 games for Gerbe
69 in 37 games for Gaudreau (if he had played 43 games he'd have 80 points - 12 more than Gerbe)

Mom means well, but this is up to Johnny.

I have advisers and family members and everyone telling me what they think I should do and what they think is best for me, but it's going to come down to what I think is best for me and what's best for my hockey career."

Interesting for him to say that even with the NCAA tournament looming, obviously it is the truth, but so far JG has been pretty good at deflecting those kind of comments.
As for him getting hit, Notre Dame is a pretty stingy defensive team that prides themselves on shutting down their opponents. The game that I saw, they tried probably 10 or 11 times to hit JG and were only succesful once because he LET them so he could make a hockey play. And even that was a weak tap against the boards. Every other attempt he was "shuckin' and jivin'" as the BC fans around me described it.
There is a big difference between the ND defense and the guys he will face in the show or AHL, but that being said he is obviously aware of the fact people want to take his head off and has developed his play style accordingly.

The flashy winger's offensive ability has created a buzz with Gaudreau being one of the most fascinating players to watch at the NCAA level. His incredible play has helped him earn the nickname “Johnny Hockey".
“It’s exciting and a cool name to have,” he said. “I’m trying to take it all in and enjoy it. I never thought that I would have something like that as a nickname.”
First hat-trick and a 6 point night in a 6-2 win. I think they go to the final and I hope they do because I think he definitely will sign at tht point. Go Johnny Hockey Go!!!
After today's outburst, Johnny now leads the nation in everything...Goals, assists, points, points per game, game-winning goals (tie), and plus/minus (tied with Bill Arnold).
Gaudreau and Arnold are both +39. Kevin Hayes is third in the nation at +31, and fourth is Shayne Gostisbehere from Union at +28.
