And just like that, it is!
If he waits until Aug 2015, he becomes a UFA and can sign wherever he wants, otherwise he would have to be traded.
Can we have that as a sticky somewhere?

I just want him to sign haha.

No....parents have 100% the obligation not possibly.
and yeah that is her baby so it's her right to take a strong stance.

Ah,
Brings back memories many moons ago when I called it Deathcon 5, I think it was Cowperson that called me out on it.

All this focus on Mom. We need to focus on his Brother. It's clear that Johnny will play where his brother says he should play. Flames need to get Matt under contract ASAP.

In your opinion, of course. Not all people are blinded by the big payday, and if Johnny's mother places more importance on something other than money, money, money, then who are we to disagree? Life is a journey and I expect all she wants is for Johnny to be safe and enjoy the ride.
Anyway it's her son and her opinion and she's entitled to it. It seems the greatest crime she committed was to voice it to a reporter during an interview.

Welcome to the internet. We take any minor innocuous comment and blow it out of proportion.

Wow... everyone who is taking shots at his mother should be so ashamed.
The majority of you care about this guy in so far as he can (hopefully) play for a sports team you support so you can enjoy them winning down the line (myself included), and although I understand that can be a significant investment, if he failed or was taken out and could never play again, there would be a disappointment but no further investment required on your parts.
This is the guys mother, she cares about him pretty much more than anyone else in the world and damn right she's allowed to be worried about his safety and his future, that's what being a parent is.
Calling their character into question over potentially spending another year in college is really insulting.

Shots at his mother? Either I am having trouble reading or you're making up a lot of drama for nothing.

People were saying his mother is too controlling, has a leash on her son, is being selfish, saying that she is wrong for not telling him to come here. There were multiple posts in the thread. EDIT: There is a quote in the post right beneath yours.
If someone called my mother controlling/overbearing for advising me on my life I'd be pretty damn angry with them.

Meh, I hardly call that taking shots at her. Mothers are controlling an do advise on life decisions. Don't see anything offensive in this thread.

Why are all the females in the photo asian? lol.
Also people need to calm the #### down and remember that this is his decision, and all accounts from a local reporter, him signing after BC's season is over is "basically a done deal".. let's stop pulling more theories and suggestions out of the ####oo clock and just sit patiently through this last weekend or two before we'll find out definitively for ourselves. It's ridiculous how far some commenters have gone off the deep end. You don't know the context from which those quotes were taken, and being the media, they were probably nit picking for anything that might cause a stir. Maybe she went on to explain that it is in his hands, and that she'll respect whatever decision he makes? No need to your reactions as far as some here have. It's really unnecessary and reflects badly on all of us. So just reserve those comments, sit back and wait, because soon enough none of these theories or speculation will matter.
