I know. The fact that the bill in your mouth, that had been handled by thousands of dirty hands, was probably a biohazard, didn't even cross your mind when there was motorboating happening.

FML this post really grinds my gears; if I can fill my tank for <80 bucks I'm content.
Still, at least we don't live in BC.

On the radio thing, there is one incredibly easy solution: someone figure out a way to get Pandora working on a cell phone so I can just bluetooth it into the radio.
Anyone? Ideas? Please?

I remember going to a bar in the days of Fuel, and they were doing a survey at the door. They asked what radio station everyone listened to on the way in. They had a sheet filled with the tally for each station, but when I said Fuel, they had to write it in. I guess that's why it's no longer around.

The overuse of "This will break the internet". It was lame when people on the internet said it, but now the phrase has made it's way to the celebrity/media world and they use it for everything.
Bill Nye/Obama/Neil Degrasse Tyson pic "This will break the internet!"
Bunch of celebrities decide to do a selfie at the grammys "OMG Ellen broke the internet!!".
You hear it everywhere now.

I've never heard the phrase "This will break the internet!"
I heard Ellen joke about breaking it at the recent awards, but have never heard someone make that predictable statement.

Huh? Everyone who says it is joking, I was referring to the fact that everyone keeps saying it in the celebrity/media world.

x929 was a beauty for the first few years, but they really moved away from what made them unique and awesome.
They nailed an open niche in this city 10 years ago (or whenever they came into the scene); Nineties rock that was a little more alternative than what you'd hear on Cjay, and the same deal with current music.
Cjay was the top 40 rock hits station, and X929 played the more punk, alternative songs that cjay wouldn't touch.
Where X929 really strayed from what made them awesome is in the last few years they've really followed the soft, coffee shop style American indie scene and made it their bread and butter.
I don't know if they still use the phrase "Calgary's new rock alternative", but they've really ditched the rock aspect of their station. I mean it's still there, but they're not the alternative rock station they were a few years ago.
Really disappointing, as I used to almost always have them on, now it seems whenever I turn them on I hear an acoustic guitar playing some soft indie hit from the States.

Ugh, AMP radio RGMG.
The whole burning 15G's for a stupid internet contest is a sham, The money could go to any local charity instead of being morons about it. The fact that the DJ's think its totally acceptable and they shouldn't need to defend it is a joke. Disgusting.

I thought that was illegal to do, until just reading this:
Quote:
The Currency Act states that "no person shall melt down, break up or use otherwise than as currency any coin that is legal tender in Canada." Similarly, Section 456 of The Criminal Code of Canada says: "Every one who (a) defaces a current coin, or (b) utters a current coin that has been defaced, is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction."
However neither the Currency Act nor Criminal Code mention paper currency. It therefore remains legal to completely destroy paper currency.

Agreed that a lot of charities would be much better suited to receive the money than see it go up in smoke.

I agree with the radio complaints. I stil have CJAY on my banned list. I'm sure they still suck as much as they did 10 years ago.
And to the inevitable radio snob that's going to chime in with "you still listen to terrestrial radio", yeah, I do. I also have XM in my truck and the ~10 channels I listen to are also repetitive.

X929 was amazing until they cancelled the "90's at 9". That was my favorite hour of radio.

Back in the day, I did all nights at 107 KIK FM. It used to kick CJay's ass as far as I'm concerned. We played everything from Zeppelin to Sabbath and then threw in new alt stuff at the time like Edie Brickell & New Bohemians and were one of the first "rock" stations to start playing tracks from Steve Earl's Copperhead Road album. It was a great station. Man I miss stations like that.
I don't listen to regular radio anymore so I haven't heard x929, but it sounds like it was different kind of like KIK was in the day. Too bad they changed.

I won't say it per se, but listening to regular radio over satellite seems crazy to me. On terrestrial radio all you hear is rabble, rabble, rabble...just shut up and play some fricken' music. That's why I tuned out of regular radio when satellite came about and have never gone back.

Was it the Internet? Or just Twitter?
I heard that Ellen's Oscar group photo caused Twitter to crash.
