I think my favourite Backs-hating troll probably expected the kid to be the messianic 1st line centre this team needed for several years and is just overly upset that he's not put up PPG totals.

Just ask Iginla. He would've been a real star in his career if he had only put up points in that all important first quarter of the season. Shame it didn't work out for him.

Indeed I should qualify my post for those who know exactly what I mean, but wish to avoid it.
The fact stands nevertheless, that Backs (yes - victim to bad teams as well) puts up 90%++ of his production when the team is an afterthought in the standings.
It is no coincidence when the games have meaning, someone is playing 8 mins / night, occupying the 4th line or watching from the pressbox.

Amazing poster, I have no idea how his obvious trolling continues.

It would be really helpful if people just wouldn't reply to that guy. Too many people take the bait.

I'm not so sure he's a troll. He might be some sort of internet performance artist, playing the role of super-ego to CP's collective id. Although I'm pretty sure that's Moon's gig.

Now the obvious next step to this pattern when Backlund continues to put up points next season, including the so important "first quarter", is:
"He's only putting up points on a losing team. If he was playing on a contender, he'd be out of the lineup".

^ It's already awesome that he puts up points on a team without any star players.
I like him and Monahan as our top 2 centers. Stajan is good as the 3rd line center.

I wonder if the story shifts if the Flames become a contender.
"Well, of course he's putting up points. Even I could be on this roster and get 20 goals playing with [x] and [y] on the 2nd line."

Moon is like the Steve Ott of this forum. You hate to play against him but would be glad if he was on ur team. He brings the other side of a lot of debates and while I dont see eye to eye all the time with Moon he has made some good points/posts for many years here. Where r u ChrisOsullivan is just annoying with regards to Backlund now. I for one have fought hard to keep the belief in Backlund's abilities going and have compared him many times to the same style as Kesler while being less of a ######, this year was a major stride towards that projection which is great to see, why he wants to keep tearing Backs down now going so far to say that he is only doing good now because we are out of the playoffs and a bottom feeder is ridiculous. I don't quite see the comparison to Moon.

Backlund has become the second best forward taken in the 2004 draft from his selection up until Simmonds was taken at the end of the second round. Only Perron would be ranked higher than him. Definitely see that as a win for Darryl Sutter now more than ever.
Heck he's probably the 3rd best forward taken in the last 20 spots of the first round (Pacioretty and Perron being better). I was a Lars Eller fan at one point, but I think Backlund has actually surpassed his play this year. It will be interesting to see what sort of contract Backlund gets next year if he continues to pace himself at 45-50 points per season. 4-5 million is probably the range they'll have in mind.

seems like he has had games over this last stretch where once he gets the puck, even if it's in our end, the pendulum of momentum swings back to the flames favour. It's as if other teams are seeing him get the puck and saying "oh ####"
when he's right(which IMO is from here on out), his shifts change the momentum of games. fabulous player to have.

Isn't this rebuttal invalid. It only works to serve someone's purpose, it goes both ways.
'Monahan didn't put up us much points because he played in a crappy Junior team, he would do better with a better team'
AND
'Backlund is only putting up points in a crappy team, he would do worse in a better team'
