"The important first quarter of the year"
If Backlund doesn't put up points, he's right. If Backlund plays great in those games, he'll just move the goal posts again.
Amazing poster, I have no idea how his obvious trolling continues.

Sounds like something a person ought to be banned for. I probably should read the forum rules and find out.

Yeah, you're right. It really only matters how well you play in the first quarter of the season. It really shows the actual quality of a player.
Just ask Iginla. He would've been a real star in his career if he had only put up points in that all important first quarter of the season. Shame it didn't work out for him.

Because he`s a highly specialized troll. Sort of a Backlund themed Springs1.

I almost wish Backs would go to Russia so that Where Are You Chris O'Sullivan? could go troll him there...
Reality check: Mikael Backlund is at least an NHL calibre player.

I don't mind. It's worth a laugh seeing Chris O'Sullivan's post and every goal scored by Backlund is all the more sweeter.

So now his KHL-career is postponed due to lockout? What next, will you blame the weather next season? You are so incredibly out of touch on this one, whatever did the por kid do, run over your dog? Its sad because you tend to have reasonable input in other topics.

Backlund must have stolen his ex gf or something? That or he is so stubborn he won't admit he is wrong

Honestly, who cares? Some troll is wasting his time over something that everyone knows he's wrong about. Let him believe whatever he likes

What is it about Backlund that has brought out two of the most obsessive single player posters in CP history (Lindberg pro and Where R U anti)?

I fully back Backlund. Hope we lock him up, the kid's got tons of heart and almost definitely brings a great element to the dressing room. Ideally he could be our 3rd line centre for a decade.
The idea of having players grow in our system where we put lines together for long periods of time is what I like, get backlund a winger with size that has the same heart as him and a speedy guy like Byron for a few years and you have a solid contributing line. Ideally Backlund can become a pk specialist, maybe he won't ever be an offensive dynamo but that's fine, we don't need every center to put up numbers. We need specific roles to be filled and if Backlund can fill certain roles for the long term then he's a definite keep. When he skates around hugging everyone and you can see they are really starting to gel you have to realize that not only is he worth keeping but he's more valuable than some other players on other teams that put up better numbers because he'll have an overall positive effect on the entire team.
Take guys like Galiardi or Glencross, sure they might do some things well but they just don't bring that extra team element guys like Backlund bring. Keeping Backlund on our team is a no-brainer because he seems like the guy that only has one gear of trying as hard as he can all the time and that's all you can ask.

Backlund could center a 2nd line if he keeps up his current production. Whether he can do that or not remains to be seen, but these past couple months he's been excellent.
My only issue is his faceoff ability, but even then he's not awful. Just wish he could get it up to at least 50%.

Sorry to de-rail for a moment but I have been seeing this a lot lately, especially related to Glencross. Where do you guys get the info back up this opinion, or is it pure conjecture? The majority of the things that I have seen released publicly refute this quite clearly.

He was on pace for a 20g/20a season last year, and is on pace for another 20g/20a season this year. Just turned 25 yo 3 days ago. Leads the team in short-handed goals (4), and 2nd in game-winning-goals (3).
'Where ru Chris O'Sullivan'... you are a friggin jackass. I haven't thought the world of Backlund the last year or two, but it's beyond obvious that he's a great 3C, and he's actually pushing me to believe he still has quality 2C potential.

And above all else, the guy loves being here, is being paid 1.5m per this year and next, and is still an RFA after this contract expires.
What's not to like.

Actually his contract expires this summer, and he is RFA.
