I just load up Spotflux on my system whenever I want to go somewhere in the States online that does not allow Canadians. Easy stuff. Use it for Netflix, Pandora, etc.

I was buying a bunch of those nevada pull tickets the other day and the guy licked his finger between every time he placed a ticket on the counter, counting out 20 for me. I looked up at him and said, that's great...now every single ticket has your spit, germs and whatever else you have on them and I'm supposed to use my hands to open these now? Imagine the germs you are spreading doing this for every person who buys these tickets from you. I told him I wasn't about to touch them and left without them. Gross beyond belief.

You won't save any money when they unbundle things though. If you are an average TV and shaw is going to make the same amount of money then the bill of the average TV watcher will remain the same.
So TSN on its own might be $10 and another $5 for TSN2. but then the crap channels like Dejaview will be $1. Also if everyone only watches one channel in a bundle then each channel in that bundle will on its own cost the $10 because the total revenue before and after unbundling needs to remain the same. The only people who will save money are those who watch the unpopular channels as their value will drop off a lot.3
When the CRTC makes changes these companies only use it as an excuse to raise prices.

I think the studies on this show that we will end up losing a lot of channels. It's sort of like revenue sharing or having a 16 team NHL or a 30 team NHL. I think I posted a link once about this, I'll check.

They basically do if it's for a product that you can't buy.
Is Geico going to want to pay for Canadian eyeballs when they don't do business in Canada?
Even for an international product, the ad budgets and sales figures are still processed locally. If you're a media buyer for Anheuser-Busch in St Louis you're not going to want to pay extra for ads airing in March Madness because they can be seen in Canada and might increase sales of Budweiser in Canada. Even if sales go up in Canada, the money from those sales will go to Labatt's, not you.
That's why the NCAA sells the rights to TSN, so they can sell ad space to Canadian companies for those Canadian viewers.

Short term trips to Calgary for work/fun are starting to grind my gears.
Not the trip itself, just the logistics of hanging out downtown during the day going to meetings at client buildings and coffee shops and such with no place to dump my gear or go back to to kill some time.
Tomorrow I will fly in around 11 and have a few meetings downtown and then taking a few people out for beer and the Flames game. After the game I was planning to head back to my parents house in the deep SE to visit for the weekend.
I will be ice climbing this weekend so I will have a good sized bag.
I have considered renting a car so I have a mobile storage locker but then I have to pass on beer at the game.
I have considered getting a hotel for the day to leave my stuff but that seems like a huge waste of money.
I have considered bringing my bag into a hotel that I stay at occasionally and asking them to check it for me but am not sure if that would work or if they would think I am a terrorist.
I can drop my bag off with the guy I am ice climbing with on Saturday so that he can take it home and get it the next day but then I am getting ready to go climbing with the same clothes that I wore to the game.
I can take a taxi to Cranston to drop my bag and then head downtown but that takes a ton of time.
The Dome doesn't have lockers that I could dump my bag in for the day.
Maybe the bus station will have lockers?
There must be a better solution but I can't think of it.

Leave it in the airport with your name and phone number on it.
Security will turn it over to the Lost and Found.
Lost and Found will call you and hold it until you come pick it up.

You'd be surprised what you can get if you just ask. If you call ahead, explain that you're a regular and your predicament, give them your name so they can look you up and see how often you stay, etc. They might just agree to it. No harm in asking.
Edit: Although a daily car rental might be economical, not just for the storage aspect, but assuming you'll be getting a taxi at least one of the trips to or from your folks' place, it might start to look more attractive. (But as you mentioned - no/limited beer at the game!)

If your parents will be home just get a taxi to deliver your bag to the house. I'm sure most cabbies will think it is an odd request but a fare is a fare.

I called the Delta and they said they will hold my bag for me.
I like the rental car idea but I also like dome foam and would have a tough time deciding between the two.

Anyone on CP live in Cranston and willing to drop GP_Matt's bag off at his parents' place?
Seriously someone here has to be in a position to give you a spot to drop the bag for a few hours.

I love to drag these guys along, keep them on the phone for a few minutes to waste their time, get them to the point where they think I am in, then when they ask me for my information I hang up, they phone back right away, and when they do I give the phone to my 3 year old, let her answer and talk jiberish to them for a couple of minutes. It's good fun.

I appreciate the thought, but I don't think my folks will be home until Friday evening.
Checking a bag at the hotel works for me.

CJAY's obsession with Kings of Leon. Their new song is awful, and now it gets played several times a day? Brutal.
I thought we already had a soft alternative rock station, that X92 hipster or whatever it's called. Now they're becoming the same thing?
Or am I just getting old?

X92 lost all of it's hipster cred two weeks after it came on air and have up on playing more obscure bands in favour of junk like Kings of Leon. Now it's just "young" CJAY, so as far as I'm concerned they've been the same for years.

They're both just garbage. Is there any good radio stations in calgary now?
Gerry Forbes should retire too. He's a little past his best before date

Looooooooooooooch

While we're on the topic of radio...
I can't remember exactly which (either CJAY or X92) but one of them has extremely annoying commercials for contests and such. This annoying high pitch/nosey voice that's trying way too hard to be funny. That really GMG.
