What's the distinction between Agostino being ineligable for the heat compared to Hanowski?

Hanowski wasn't available to the Heat last season either.

Forbids any players from being loaned to a an affiliate unless they were recalled already, or injury prevented them being assigned before the trade deadline
|
Guess that would mean Monahan could not go down either even though Ottawa 67's are not in the OHL playoffs.

Will be the benchmark for Gaudreau as well. If he signs an NHL contract he won't be able to play for the Heat this season.

Once the season is over he can be sent down to play for the Heat. It was done twice last season, Tampa Bay did this last year with Sustr and Detroit with Dekeyser.

Technically it was JSchick who tracked down the O.G tweet from the cousin. Sureloss posted this prior to the tweet from the cousin. Which makes it even more impressive!

From what I can tell Sustr and Dekeyser were assigned to AHL rosters on trade deadline day last year allowing them to be eligible. (Thanks to a late trade deadline)
No such opportunity for the Flames and Agostino this year.

No he wasn't available to the Heat. But had the Heat made the playoffs and their regular season had not ended a week before Calgary's he would have.

Looking forward to seeing what he brings. We should have him wear #12 ... just in practice though. Stir up some ####.

If players like Gaudreau and arnold wait to sign NHL deals till next season and instead sign AHL deals for the remainder of this year, then can they join the Heat immediately?

According to Katie Strang the Rangers can't assign recent college FA Ryan Haggerty to the AHL either:
Katie Strang @KatieStrangESPN 2h
#NYR To clarify Haggerty's contract status: He is actually on a two-way contract. Has an NHL/AHL salary but bc deal signed after (1 of 2)
Katie Strang @KatieStrangESPN 2h
#NYR (2 of 2) the trade deadline, he can't be sent down THIS season. Deal negotiated to burn 1st year of ELC. CAN be sent down next year

I said it when the trade went down, Agostino is a player. He'll have a long NHL career.

I just did some looking and both Dekeyser and Sustr signed their NHL contracts within 40 days of the end of the NHL season too. So I am not so sure this is correct, unless rules were changed for last year?
