People are obsessed with big defencemen, despite Myers being no good.

I wouldn't say he isn't good, he may be over rated but he's still good with lots of potential. I just think he needs a change of scenery

The newest buzzphrase: "hockey trade".
I really hope Butler gets a one-way GTFO ticket, but then again I hoped the same for Stajan and he was re-signed, so...

Everyone saying Glencross will be moved is forgetting he has a NMC. Highly unlikely he would wave it. He's been on record before how much He loves being in Alberta close to home. I think management would have to buy him out or let his contract expire.

I agree with you 100%. Thing is though, the team is doing just fine without him, and I think even he knows he's not going to be a part of the future long term. Add in the Omission of comments when asked about Glencross from Burke in his interview on TSN, one could easily be lead to believe something is afoot with Glencross.
I've been just as vocal about trade scenario's involving Glencross citing his NTC is the biggest block to him being traded. But I won't discount the possibility that there can be more to the situation behind closed doors that no one outside of the organization knows.

No one is forgetting the NMC. And Burke has stated before that he believes in honouring them.
However, when players are asked if they will waive, the majority do. Factor in a team in a rebuild, and it is hard to think of any examples of players declining.
Besides, he can live here in the summer - it's not like he's doing any ranching during the season
Edit: for the record, I do not wish to see him traded (unless it is for over-payment)

Mabey he does wave. It would have to be like the example capgeek gives of Brad Richards when he was traded to Tampa Bay. He only waved it if Tampa would continue to honor it.
Edit. He has only a year left on his contract. I would see next year being more likely.

Any vet with 2 or less years needs to start looking at their next contract and how best they can leverage their next deal. I dint think many feel they can maximize that next deal playing on a bottom feeder. Take Cammy for example, I'd be the would gave preferred playing on a more talented team to increase his next contract. If I'm Glencross, I'd be open to it, even thought he still gas term left.

Why would Burke trade a young defenseman who is improving every season and one of the top defenseman in this team? That doesn't make any sense at all.

I really hope that Glencross is not traded this season. You would have to imagine his trade value is pretty low at the moment.
His contract is very modest for his production. I would imagine that if he gets back on track in the first third of the season, most teams will be able to absorb his cap-hit (even if the Flames have to absorb 50% to help).
Would have been better last season, and hopefully it will be better next season - but this season is probably not the best time to make that move.

Agreed. Offseason would be best if anything to move him. This season is a wash for him and the team.

|
Lmao. I really don't think you understand the definition of realistic.
Poirier is a long shot to make the NHL at all next year. Thinking he can realistically be able to replace Glencross as a 19 year old rookie is beyond a long shot. The odds of Poirier replacing Glencross as a rookie are astronomically small.
That is unless your definition of replace is fill a spot in the lineup, play in a situation he won't be ready for and put up much smaller numbers.

March 5th has been a big failure for Burke jmo. The Flames didn't come close to making the moves needed to fetch prospects or draft picks.
Very disappointed they failed today.
