No he didn't.
Duthie mentioned Smid and Glencross. Burke said Smid was unlikely to be dealt, but didn't say Glencross's name at all.

1) Can somebody please explain to me the difference between a trade and a "hockey trade"?
2) I'd be okay or actually I would encourage Burke to move Glencross because:
a. He'll have good value given his contract
b. I don't think he fits well with the existing team (his heart doesn't seem into it based on efforts this season)
c. He doesn't strike me as a guy that would be part of the rebuild / future.

A "hockey trade" is one where both teams are trying to improve their current teams and acquire players who they see as longer-term members of their team. The other types of trades are rentals, where the key players are on expiring contracts, and there might not be any interest for the acquiring team to have him on their team beyond this season, and usually involve picks and prospects going the other way.
The Phaneuf trade would be classified as a "hockey trade". The Iginla trade was a rental move.

I went with the 3 UFA's, but depending on the seriousness of Butler's injury it might only be 2.
I think Burke will just try to stockpile assets for the new GM and any hockey trades that could happen (Glencross, Hudler, Wideman) will take place in the off season. That is unless someone goes nuts and offers the moon for one of those players.

Stefan Meyers might be pricey to re-acquire... You'd have to fly him over from Sheffield.

I read the title as "Burke Deadline Action Doll". Figured he would come with a cell phone, comb, and pre-recorded catch phrase:
"That's horse-<bleep>"

I know hockey is still a business, but do you think Burke will still trade Stempniak even though he just had newborn twins last night? Obviously it would be rough on his family to pack his bags right away... Just a thought.
I think we'll see Cammy + Butler traded as rentals, and one of Wideman or Hudler in a hockey trade.

I think he moves our UFAs for whatever he can get (likely trying to package up to get a first round pick rather than the second players like Cammi are worth). I think there is a hockey trade of Wideman on the basis that we have two offensive dmen to play on the powerplay so Wideman is redundant for us but has some worth (even if he is struggling now).

Glencross, Wideman and Brodie (gasp! Blasphemy!) all get traded but Brodie brings in the best return in what Burke likes to call a "hockey deal".
Cammy, Butler and Stempniak also find new homes.
In the Process, Burke manages to secure another first round pick this year (15-20 range), Two RH defensemen under the age of 25 and a young budding center.
Also, Andrew Ladd. (for Glencross, helps reach the cap floor next season as well.)

You know I think you may be onto something about Brodie, not sure why but I get a gut feeling he'll be moved.

They're all hockey trades. Burke isn't being intellectually honest with us and is setting up conditions where he may be more truculent in defending or attacking the deals made.

By the trade deadline:
Cammalleri to New Jersey for Steve Santini and a 2nd round pick
Stempniak to Montreal for a 2014 3rd round pick
Butler: No takers; re-signed in the offseason
S.O.B. to Dallas for a 2014 6th round pick
At the draft:
Sven Baertschi + Max Reinhart + David Jones + 2014 3rd round pick for Tyler Myers + Joel Armia + 2014 2nd round pick

Why is Meyers being singled out? Is there a legitimate rumour that has the Flames being interested?
