Why? It was a fair one on one fight where nothing dirty happened. He just got beat by a very tough kid. Not sure why it needs to be avenged. If anything, this fight should be a reminder why fighting should have no place in the game and is pretty shameful that it is still allowed. Fighting does not protect players. It only makes room for more goons who can't play hockey.
While I agree with your stance, this thread isn't the place of it's up to me. We had a million threads on it and it'll just drag through this one

I feel asleep during the 2nd period and had these weird dreams about the Flames. One was about Monahan that he stole these two chicks that I picked up from a club. Normally I'd be pissed but then I realized that it was Monahan so I couldn't be too mad.
You weren't dreaming. He scored twice tonight.

You misunderstood the intent of my post. No avenging, I like watching fights, particularly McGrattan fights, and Grats v Gazdic was one of the toughest battles of the year and I was disappointed when I saw McGrattan wasn't going to be able to play in this one for round 2.
Not going to touch the other half of your post. I like the fights, you don't. We simply won't agree on that.

Love beating the Oilers. Good solid game all around.
It's too bad Westgarth got knocked out. I hope you fighting supporters enjoyed another human being getting his brain rattled. I hope you were entertained.
Are you still here?
good fighting in hockey troll bro, keep your lines in the water.
Whatever year it is 7,6 or 5 of the rebuild - take your pick...Calgary a team that has just started down this "rebuild" road comes in and beats Edmonton. And their young star Monahan comes in and owns the Oilers. Hall? Eberle? RNH? ... no answer. The Flames are higher than the Oilers in the standings?! Wow. And also the Abbotsford Heat are way ahead of the Barons.
This Oilers organization is lost. And the problems start from the core. Youth and inexperience can be used as a crutch and excuse for only so long.
The Oil's worst ever season was 93'-94' when they ended up with 60 points. The Oil, at their current pace, will end up with 65 points ... but likely will be significantly lower when you consider they finish up their final 10 games against the Sharks (2), Ducks (3), Rangers, Coyote's, Avalanche, Kings & Canucks.
This could quite easily be a record breaking year ...

I was entertained. It was unfortunate he got hurt as bad as he did.He was a willing combatant. He choose to fight. I hope he gets well .

Good coaching by Hartley to get Byron out there late in the game. He had a couple of good shifts despite hardly playing during the game.
Some awful defense overall by the oilers with the flames having significant more scoring chances but awful finish by the flames. Need to cash in on some of those chances. We need our "primary" scorers to finish.
Even if byron plays fourth line minutes primarily i think he is gritty enough to be able to stick in the line up he adds a scoring dimension i think we should have on every line. He is deadly 4v4 and if we head for 3v3 on regular overtime he could be even more key.
Even if you jusyve said it before monahan is looking like patrick marlaeu just deadly around the net. Under hartleys tutelage i think he could become a more physical and higher pace player. Marlaeu is not exaftly a defensice stalwart either so i would say he is a mix of bergeron and marleau about as important a player as you can get. I hope he reaches his potential.
The plot twist in all of this Boring Sean Monahn stuff........it's actually Sean Monahan himself and he woulda gotten away with it too if it wasn't for us pesky CP kids.....
i'm not one to rag on "on-air" personalities as I think they have a tough job at times but for God's sake, can we not find someone that has more intelligence than Glenn Healy. I swear he has absolutely no idea what game he's watching, who the players are and how the game is played. Hit in the head with the puck way to many times when he was playing.
He tries to sound intelligent. He tries to be funny. He is neither. He brings nothing to the broadcast other than to get my blood boiling. I swear I could do a better job of colour commentary.
CBC take note, either fire him or do not ever let him do another game out west again. EVER!!!
What a tool!
sorry, rant over. I'll go back to being a nice guy now.
