I was under the impression that Humphries was a behind the scenes guy until recently. He used to read the updates later at night, but he was never really an on air guy. Another cost saver to bring him on air?

A lot of on-air guys start off as producers, like Pat did and Josh recently became more of an on-air presence through that progression.

The first thing that I thought of when I heard that Leslie was gone was that he was fired for that "Valentines Date" bit he did last week. It was fine by me, but I can see some people being rubbed the wrong way by it. (Clearly their demographic should have been fine with it,but who knows?)

While we are voicing our opinions, I didn't mind Leslie. I also like Steinberg. I don't mind the morning show, and I liked Kerr on the radio...horrible on the TV.

I'm one of the few that would like the third hour of Rome back. I've been listening since 1999, so maybe he grows on you?

Kirsh does his best, and the other "part time" guys (Humphreys, Nault) are not good yet.

I don't know if it was the same thing, but I tuned in and they did a fantasy "hot chick" draft (I say chick because I heard the word many times). Must have been a realllllllly slow day. The whole thing just felt awkward. One of them selected Allison Redford "because she travels in luxury".

There's a reason some of those TSN guys would rather stay at TSN even without an NHL contract. Rogers is extremely cut-throat and tight with the purse strings. Look at how they have treated the Flames PBP guys going back to Millions. Have you ever seen TSN pull that crap where guys get promoted and demoted or fired in short order only to have each successive replacement to be worse than the guy he replaced? Ever wonder how every female host TSN hires is not only attractive but talented while Rogers hires the females that aren't good enough for TSN?

I think people have to realize that $5.2 billion is a lot of money and that certain areas of the business were going to get the short end of the stick as 960 is cutting back left and right. It's all about filtering the money into Toronto now for HNIC and the Kypreos and Maclean dog and pony show.

Yeah, that was it. As I said, I didn't think it was a big deal, but these days you never know. It was awkward to say the least.

Sportsnet 960 (CFAC) is the third least listened to station in the market. The only two lower are CBC-FM and CKMX, which changed from Classic Country to Comedy during the ratings period. I think both of those stations are relatively cheap to operate.

Sportsnet, on the other hand, has to pay for Flames rights and produce all of the game broadcasts. I'm sure they make decent money from advertising during the Flames broadcasts, but it probably barely cover costs.

Not surprising to see cutbacks taking place.

The only real talent on SN are thee HC guys. As for the women on TSN, they drive me nuts. Hedger tries to be a guy and the other her accent makes me bonkers. With all their "aboot" and "sooth". I know many Canadians talk like that but tv is a place to take away those stereotypes.
