Not a single official web-site showing a clear live qualification schedule matrix. Very surprising and disappointing. Bush league...

I think it goes something like these. Sweden plays the winner of the Slovenia/Austria game. Finland plays the winner of the Russia/Norway game. Sweden/Russia is likely the Semi on this side of the bracket.
USA plays the winner of the Czech Republic/Slovakia game. Canada plays the winner of the Switzerland/Latvia game. USA/Canada likely the other Semi side on this side of the bracket.

Had an idea!

Carter had a good game as well.
Lots of useless forwards tonight. Sharp, Kunitz, Crosby for starters. Unreal how Crosby can't get going.

Expect the same kind of game against the Swiss. Canada needs to score 2 in the first to force the Swiss to change their defensive shell gameplan.
Start carving to the net and force hooking calls to get on the PP.

Every game the Swiss have played so far has been a 1-0 final.

Teams seeded D1 to D4 are the home teams.
Following the quarterfinal games, the winning teams will be re-ranked F1 through F4, with the winner of 1D vs. E4 re-ranked as F1, the winner of 2D vs. E3 re-ranked as F2, the winner of 3D vs. E2 re-ranked as F3, and the winner of 4D vs. E1 re-ranked as F4. The losers of the quarterfinal round games will receive a final ranking of 5 through 8 based on their preliminary round ranking.

Oh well.
Easy to be proud of the team after a game like this. Could't quite pull off the upset, but Canada really had to work for this one.
Team looks to be in pretty good spirits, obviously playing without pressure. Selänne says he's loving the big minutes.
Russia is no better than Canada, and they have huge pressures on them. We've got every chance of dropping them.

Canada's next game is the winner of Switzerland/Latvia
If they win, it's the winner of USA/Czech/Slovakia
If they win, it's for gold against whoever is left

If Canada does get to the gold medal game, I'd rather it be against Russia. Far more epic considering the setting. But I'm not liking having to play the Swiss, they always seem to know how to shut Canada down. And with the US playing strong and standing in the way there's a good chance Canada doesn't even end up in the final game if they continue to have so many passengers on this team

Yep, have won a lot of money betting the under in their games so far.
Watch them beat Latvia 1-0 as well on Tuesday. It was good for Canada to get the experience playing a frustrating game today, they'll have another one in the quarters.

Even then, it's not really reseeding after the QF since the rankings are only based on the winners of the various matchups which is still a bracket format. In 2010 with the same format #6 ranked Canada played #7 ranked Slovakia while #1 ranked USA played #4 ranked Finland in the SF.

The winners of the quarters get new ranks, so in the semis it becomes 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3
either way end of story is we play the winner of switzerland/latvia, then if we win we play the winner of US/(czech/slovakia)

I don't think they will re-seed after the quarters either from reading the IIHF one.
forget the reseeding thing, I'm just dumb.

No, there's no re-ranking after the quarterfinals either. There is no way Canada and the USA will meet in the gold medal game. There is no way Canada will play either Sweden or Russia except for a medal.

If there's any team that can pull off an upset, it's Switzerland. I seriously hope Latvia can find a way to win their game.
