Silly woman that I know is kind of grinding my gears. They're in storm territory, so she sent her spouse out to get provisions a couple of days ago, preferably things that don't necessarily need cooking if they lose power. Her husband comes home with this red velvet dessert item and she's bitching about him buying it because it will set the kids off on a sugar tear and they're all cooped up at home.
So ok, fine, maybe he messed up, as far as she's concerned. So you'd think the logical action would be not to feed it to the children if it's truly that bad - hide it, throw it out, tell them it's for adults only, whatever - just don't give it to the kids. They decided to have another child over to play today. What does she do? Gives all the kids this cake and now she's bitching that the kids are running around like Tasmanian devils. Um? You didn't have to give it to them in the first place. You were pretty clear what the usual results are when the kids eat 'red dye #whatever' - so your thought process was to go ahead and give it to them?
Yeah, no sympathy and you really can't be tearing your husband a new one over this. You brought it on yourself. Quit with the never ending bitching about it already.

Anxiety GMG. I've been fine over the past year but now all of a sudden it's acting up again.

I will have to see if I can find where I read it but there was a study done on kids and parents where half of the kids were given sugared kool aid anb half of the kids were given sugar free cool aid. Half of the parents in each group were told that there kids were given sugared or non sugared.
They then let the kids play and asked the parents to report if there kids were hyperactive.
Parents who were told there kids had sugar regardless of whether they did or not reported hyperactive kids. Parents who were told there kids had no sugar reported regular behaviours.
The lesson learned is kids behaviours aren't dictated by sugar consumption.
EDIT: I read it in a Gladwell type of book but a quick google of Sugar Hyperactive Myth leads to several different articles but no links to studies. http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/do...lored-1.704227

You know, I thought I had read or heard this same thing a while back but I didn't feel like looking it up and providing the link because I'm sure I would have had my head bitten off. Aside from the whole sugar/red dye thing, I was irritated that if she feels this is such an issue, enough to bitch about her husband buying the damn dessert, then why in hades is she then feeding it to the kids, and continuing to blame her husband for it?
I also wanted to point out that it's more likely that the kids are hyper because they're well out of their routine with school and have been cooped up inside for days. She was also complaining that one of the kids was outside running around in the back yard like a wild man. Uh, this is not a bad thing, really. The child is outside, working off some energy, getting some fresh air - this is a very good thing. Send the other kids out there as well, to do the same. Life will suddenly get easier and you can back off your husband.

They say you don't know what you got till it's gone.
Well today, I lost function of my Command key on my keyboard and it's maddening. I had no idea how often I used it. This is what that Chinese water torture must feel like.

People on forums who post a picture from an article, and then quotes from the article, but not the link to the article.

I can't believe someone was scalping Valentines day reservations. I don't understand this anything to make a buck mentality that some people have.
At least with tickets the games that are scalped have a real different value and there is risk involved. This is as bad as people in Yosimite scalping camp site registrations.
The worst part about this is is the scammers will make the process of getting a restaurant reservation more difficult to avoid these issues. Soon Cancelations won't be permitted or there will be a fee, and credit cards will be required all reservations. Its just disappointing that people abuse the honor system to make what at most would be 20 bucks a reservation.

Huh, I guess so. I always wonder if these types of people put this much effort in to their real jobs too, or just their side scams.

That was I.
And yeah...it's funny how sometimes you have to take a beating on here to see that it wasn't the smartest idea.
It really was for a friend, but that's beside the point. I get it. Not smart. Someone posted under my thread about how if the reservation wasn't sold, that the restaurant could be losing money, and that's when it hit me that maybe I should think more before posting. That thought never crossed my mind and I never thought about the other side of the coin.
I also didn't realize auctioning stuff here was against the rules.

The city looks absolutely disgusting today. That smog is so thick. As soon as you get a few kilometres from downtown, it's just a thick, low, brown wall of crap. Brutal.

I can certainly understand it just not hitting you that way.
That's also the main reason I don't take reservations on weekends or holidays. No chance of it not getting used or someone not showing up.
