Offense has dried up but Troy Ward says it's because they're focusing on improving his defence and two way game rather than his offensive production. Expects his game to even out soon. Unfortunately Sven looks a little lazy during Heat games, soft passes, not really battling for the puck. Reinhart and Granlund look way better than he does right now and should probably pass him on the depth chart, if they haven't already. Sven still shows flashes of brilliance, but not on a very consistent basis.

Just confirms why he was sent down. Hartley would have flailed Sven's skin off by now.
Does Gary Roberts pick his pupils for off season training? Because I would love to see Sven, Sean and TJ Brodie get the benefits of that program.
And neither are really proven. I never heard a thing about asking for a trade but I did hear he did like to goof around a little too much in practice and Gilbert started to get really tired of it. Problem is Gilbert took it personally and put his feelings before the team and it ended up being him or Sarvard on the team instead of trying to fix it with a sit down.
If you want to improve in your profession, there is that point where you think you're doing enough versus having the maturity to know you need to do more.
I think Sven might be at that point where Ward is trying to convince him that he needs to do more, and Sven is occasionally doing it but isn't yet seeing the immediate benefits. That can cause frustration and can make you wonder why you should bother doing X and Y when it hasn't given you a reward. Having the mental strength to push through that barrier is a mark of maturity.

I'd add that sven is small so has a tougher journey in the NHL. Its not fair. It's life. Being as good as the guys next to you in the NHL isn't enough when you're undersized. You have to significantly better. Better training, more lean muscle, more lb for lb strength, more tenacity, etc.
Part of the problem might have been Sven coming up here and seeing that he had done enough to warrant a spot, but the brain trust knows that "doing enough" when you're that size is a ticket to a very short career in this league. So the brain trust is tough on him, and in his head he's being unfairly targeted.
The Edmonton 6mil lifetime contract situation doesn't help either. It's like living next door to the parents who buy their kids a PS4 and let that raise them and trying to tell your kids that doing their chores will build more character instead.
(Not calling Sven a child)

I also am really bored of people complaining about St. Louis, he was undrafted and we gave him a chance, but then we waived him and no other team picked him up. Then he signed with Tampa and ended up in the right situation and he became a star. I don't think for a second St. Louis becomes the player he is today if he remained in Calgary's system.
The Giguere and Savard deals however very much bothered me. I don't think Giguere was given a fair shake here and Savard was traded for good reason, but the return was very bad.
PFFT! Giguere couldn't even keep himself hydrated. He was ready to puke after a few periods. Savard has noodle brains. BAH! WHO WANTS THEM ANYWAY.
On a serious note though, I'll always like St Louis. Despite not 'putting it together' in Calgary, he always said nice things about how Calgary gave him the chance to be an NHLer. Even when being confronted with aggro reporters asking him if it's 'payback time' to Calgary. Also, he's the 'point the finger at him!' guy for smaller players making it in the NHL (Theo Fleury aside).

I am old enough to remember St. Louis on Calgary and he was a good little player and I liked him too. No one thought he would some day lead the league in scoring. Undrafted. Went through waivers. Every team and every professional talent evaluator probably had a chance to look at him, and no one took a chance (except Tampa, I suppose).
It would be like if Street was picked up on waivers and became a superstar. Not impossible, but not very likely either. Certainly not something to suggest that it was a massive mistake on the Flames part at the time.
P.S.: What is happening with Sven has nothing to do with Marty.
P.P.S.: I thought the dehydrated goalie was another guy, for some reason. They didn't have water bottles on the nets prior to his issues.

I thought it was too....i'm thinking Marc D'Amour or Dadswell...

It's definitely Giguere. Its why he has a strange straw device on his bottles now.

Gigučre suffers from a rare gastric condition that causes his body to take in too much air when he drinks fluids. As a result, his body has difficulty absorbing water, leading to severe dehydration when he sweats.

From Wikipedia:
While Giguere has his issue, he is not the guy Fighting Banana Slug is thinking of, as the other issue was indeed before water bottles were allowed on the nets. It is D'Amour.
"The Calgary goalie is another example. He began this season as a disappointing former No. 3 pick (actually, the Flames' second player chosen in the 1981 draft) and spent some of it in the International Hockey League. Marc D'Amour, Johnson's original choice as veteran Reggie Lemelin's backup, suffered a dehydration problem and a bloated goals-against average. That brought Vernon back within earshot. He heard his name called by Johnson, however reluctantly, when Lemelin slumped down the stretch."
