I'm guessing Smid is back by Tuesday's game, giving us 6 healthy defensemen for the first time since October.
For the 7th spot, I'm guessing Smith back up, O'Brien demoted.

I don't think that is an option actually. My understanding is once you loan a player to another organization you are unable to recall them.

The clause in the trade allows cundari to be recalled to the flames for the rest of the season

If you are referring to the part where it says that the Flames still hold his rights, they are referring to his contract not whether or not he can be recalled.
I have yet to see anything that says the Flames can still recall him.

What I understand is that he can no longer go back to Abbotsford this season but he can still be recalled. At least that is what was said in the Cundari thread.

Its my understanding that the loan refers to the ahl only and they still have the ability to recall him to the flames. The flames still have him on a 2way contract, so instead of the 2way being flames-heat it becomes flames-wolves.

Tanguay's effort level on the ice has been inconsistent for years. It really can't be used to measure how much he wanted to be here. Apparently Tanguay did want to be here and Sarich just wanted to play.

Wait until the end of the season to say that. Jones's ability to stay healthy is average at best and I say average because of the type of game he plays.

it is an interesting option if this is indeed the case, however I wouldn't suggest doing it without first having permission from the Blues and Wolves, no point in risking souring a relationship over a #7 defenseman. But If the Wolves are willing to more or less swap SOB for Cundari I wouldn't have an issue. Cundari can sit in the pressbox and if called upon his play has improved greatly the last little while.

I think Burke may have pulled off a real filthy one. Essentially he adds Locke to the Heat roster, replaces Cundari with O'Brien and Chicago gets squat unless Cundari gets sent back down.

I noticed a drop off in his play and by what he said and his body language when Iginla went, I put it down to him being not wanting to be here. You don't agree fine.

He is awful. There is nothing to like about him or his play this year (and judging from Avs fans his play most of the time there.)

Jones is second on the team in hits, behind only Bouma, has chipped in 8 goals, is even in +/, having been on the ice for only 21 opposing team goals, and he goes into the corners and to the net hard.
He isn't worth the salary he's getting, but calling him awful is ridiculous.

That would be lulz.
I suppose Breen could or Smith comes back, but SOB is better than both.
Another option is that we're about to pull the trigger on a defenseman for Cammy or Stemps and need to make room for a forward (like Hanowski or Reinhart).

Backlund to Chicago, Brookbank comes back as a "cap dump"
That is my official guess.

Agreed. Jones is a very solid third liner. Just an overpaid one. I think he would look very solid with Hanowski and Stajan on the third line next year.

I like that possibility. Hanowski has great hockey sense and could mesh well with Stajan and Jones.

According to some Heat fans Breen was seen leaving Abbotsford with his sticks and bags after Saturday nights game.
May have been recalled, may have been traded.
IMO its most likely the former.

This makes sense to me. at least the 2 (SOB and Breen) play a somewhat similar game, so if SOB is headed down it makes sense for him to replace Breen on the Heat roster.
