I think Richard Bachman will be fine as a backup. Let the Bryz coast for a little while longer.
Me thinks Edmonton is talking to Toronto, Washington or Anaheim about a goaltender.
Honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Neuvirth an Oiler shortly.

Or is Gagner going to Toronto in a deal for Reimer?

Edmonton is engaging full-on suck mode, it would seem. I hope someone else wins the lottery and screws them out of Ekblad for such a shameful and blatant tank job.

This seams like a terribly bad deal for edmonton. Salary dump? New goalie? Lots of confidence in bryz?

Yeah, I guess will need to wait and see what they do. I can't see them moving Gagner than having Boyd Gordon move to 2nd line center, and him to 3rd. Maybe they have something in the works to swap out a couple bigger pieces for a 2nd line center and goaltender? If they did eat half of Dubnuk's contract the salary is a wash, and they weren't exactly swimming in cap space.

Dubnyk isn't great, but he's a fine goaltender.
The problem with the Oilers in the defence.
The Oilers traded a more valuable player for a player without value. They are looking to lose.

Man, if Edmonton tanks again and picks Ekblad ahead of us..... At some point the league has to look at teams that continually tank over and over again for picks don't they?

As many have already said, I'm very hopeful to look back and say "stupid Oilers" once again, and they certainly don't deserve the benefit of the doubt. But seen as I will apply this logic to the Flames, I guess I have to apply to others as well. As with any move made now until the deadline, especially by teams out of the playoff picture, we will have to see "what else" they do and how this move fits into that puzzle or not before we know if they are as dumb as it might seem in this moment in time.

Yeah, but Brian Elliot honestly looked like he was blind playing for Ottawa and Colorado....goes to St.Louis, and he becomes a NHL caliber goaltender again. Dubnyk could fair a lot better in Nashville than Edmonton.

No, he's bad. The guy can't stop anything higher than his waist. He's had plenty of laughable goals this year that had nothing to do with the defense in front of him. He will look better in Nashville because of their defense, but he's still bad at the core. It's a garbage for garbage deal, but at least the Oilers need the kind of garbage they brought in.

Edmonton is 3 points behind us with 2 more games played, it's hard to call it tanking when they have been worse than us all year.

Didn't the NHL create two rules based on the Flames behaviour post 2004? Something about line up choice (to prevent the awesomeness that Sutter did against Nashville from happenning again) and the last 5 minute instigator rule to prevent the awesomeness Iggy and team did in any playoff game we lost in that run?
That to me suggest that a "enoughs enough" rule on handouts to teams that can't get their #### together after drafting 1st overall for the better part of a decade should be in order.

“@JoshRimerHockey: Hearing Cam Ward is in play. Oilers have inquired about him, but is a deal close? Stay tuned”

People always say this after trades. Very rarely do teams make another trade after a move.
