You guys really need to set up a little section of the Calgary website for little pilot projects like this. Nothing big or crazy just basic information for whoever is interested in searching about it.

I've never had problems myself using the calgary.ca website search. Like Bunk said, just type in key words and it almost always spits out the thing you're looking for. "17th Avenue Crosswalk Pilot" also turned up the correct result on the first one.

Bunk, a few years ago, someone (I can't recall if it was Mac Logan or Owen Tobert), publicly presented budget numbers that would have been necessary to keep ALL streets in Calgary bare, including residential, based on the average annual snowfall. I remember, that the numbers were substantial but not outrageous; in that, comparatively, this was a sizable but not tremendous increase to the existing snow removal budget at that time. Do you have any information regarding this? The situation is getting totally out of control. Residential streets are becoming simply impassable in many locations unless you drive a tank. Seniors are staying at home and can't walk to buy groceries. I don't believe there will be any formidable opposition from Council members to increase the budget or re-adjust it towards better snow removal.

For those super cold days, I think I'd take the #3-- but find the schedule on the website is inaccurate. For the same reason I want to take CT, the weather also affects the buses being on time. (Granted it's only been a few times-- so may have missed it)

Where's the city at with gps/AVL on their fleet for the public to view?
Calgary Transit iPhone app?

Should be complete this year. It'll develop a City app, but will also make all the data public so it's available for app developers as well. So we'll get a multitude of interfaces.

Hmmm, I don't recall such a number being put out there myself. Can't seem to find anything either. It's a question I'll ask.

This was definitely before your time. But not too long ago. 5 years or so ago, perhaps.

What are your feelings on this:

Are the lights on Deerfoot always this dark?

This morning I drove to the airport and back and the lights are either not on or very faint. I had trouble seeing exit signs and lanes markings on Memorial and Deerfoot. Then driving back I passed police cars and ambulances as there was a serious 2 car accident. I drove quite carefully, barely 100 in the right lane.

Is it a 4:30am thing? A Saturday morning thing?

It was really dark!

I thought it was an additional 100ish dollars a household which doesn't sound like much but that's an interchange or peace bridge a year. And until all complainers have winter tires you don't commit that kind of money. Also you don't base budgets or decisions on peak snow years

I disagree. You always design any infrastructure (roads, pipe, electricity) to handle peak flows. Climate has changed, we see this almost every year now. Damages and inconveniences are both significant.

Provincially operated and maintained. You'll see on memorial where it crosses over deerfoot where the faded lane markings are little signs on either end that say "deerfoot maintenance ends here" that's where it transitions to City responsibility.
