I got mine last Thursday. The only wait was for the pharmacist to finish with the 2 people ahead of me. I has stopped at Co-op to pick up some groceries for supper, saw the pharmacy, and asked if they were doing vaccinations.

I don't know if I happened to beat the huge rush, or if people just overlook the pharmacies in other stores like that.

Got my shot at Boonie Doon in Edmonton. Took only about 30 minutes. I went in got a number, told me to come back in half hr, and precisely I did and was out pretty fast.

I also hate needles, but the nurses were great and didn't feel a thing.

Just got a call from my brother saying he has the H1N1, just going to monitor his symptoms.

I caught it a few years ago, hoping that being careful and potentially having built up antibodies will keep me healthy.

Today is definitely a sign that people need to go for vaccinations when the professionals recommend it and have everything ready and organized

I don't think we will be going. Our understanding is that our son will need 2 shots, because of his young age.

So if we go this week, and next week there is no vaccine, what's the point?

My personal philosophy is if you're dealing directly with the public the a. Flu shot is a good idea. If you don't, then clean hands and proper dirt should suffice.

Alas, I didn't think ahead and a week of poor diet, dealing with the public in an intensive 10 day event caused me to go to the hospital on Monday and I still threw up my supper tonight.

So I guess flu shot is a good idea.

Well the doctor wasn't sure exactly, but he said it was the most likely cause as he's seen a strain going around with similar symptoms as me.

I didn't go into all the details. It's not 100% flu but according to the symptoms and blood work the most likely, apparently. I'm no doctor, nor pharmacist, just going on what I was told.

Sounds like you had gastroenteritis, possibly norovirus. The flu shot would NOT have prevented that.
The flu causes some nausea, maybe mild diarrhea, but not what you're describing. I only mention that because as the flu shot does not prevent that, people often claim it didn't work for them

It's not these are the last of the flu shots ever and they will be gone by the end of the week. The supply could easily be replenished in a month. Just admit you don't want to go and you're using any excuse not to.

It's not an excuse. Do you watch the news or read any sort of reliable publication? Alberta has received the last of the vaccine from Italy, as of today. 65,000 doses. They project to be out of vaccine by the end of the week.

So what I'm saying is, if we get our son in this week, and there isn't any available in 4 weeks for his second shot, what's the point?

We even called Health Link this evening, and they said there wasn't any point, unless he can get both shots.

My ultimate issue is that my wife and I were able to make appointments and go get our shots, back in October. But you can't do that with a child under 9 years of age.

Why we can't make an appointment for our child, is completely baffling. Some of us can't wait for 3 hours in a line-up. We have jobs and other responsibilities that require our time. And I am not saying those things are more important than my son's health, but getting the time to do this is near impossible.

Does that "last of the flu" include the nasal type?

Does that "last of the flu" include the nasal type?

I have no idea. I'm assuming the nasal type is from the same vials, and that it's just distributed using the sprayers rather than a needle.

Everyone that is around my son, with the exception of a couple people, have had the FLU shot. So I guess he'll be fine. Still, it's a little concerning.
