I am worried this is gonna be a tight game that will be decided by Dumba's stupidity.

Hell, decking the linesman only gets you a two minute penalty in this tournament.
I'd kind of like him to be suspended based on just the hilarious and instantaneous bitching by a couple Swedish posters in this thread, but on the other hand you also want them to beat the best team possible. On the other, other hand, you want them to win no matter what and nobody will ever remember or care that this guy was suspended for the final game.

Yeah fair enough, I have no intimate knowledge of the IIHF rules, but just assumed that any sort of action like that would be severely frowned upon by them. But you are right, they walk to their own beat for sure.
I dont even mind that the kid did what he did and stood up for his teammate, but that doesnt mean it shouldnt have consequences.
Who knows though.

Yeah he looks to be an NHLer but he does some stupid things with the puck and always holds on to it for too long.

The Canadian Tire "We All Play for Canada" one is the oddest one, especially during the round robin games at the rink where Canada wasn't even playing.

Wow
That's a good Tim Horton's commercial.
Never saw that before.
Good game so far.

No kidding. The SWE-RUS game had a skill level several notches up the scale over this one. This is bad hockey to watch after that game this morning.

If Canada makes it to the final, look for Sweden to feast on Dumba

It does seem weird.. but since they are only in Canada they are only targeting Canadians watching.

I can't decide who to pull for in this game. I would like to play Canada in the final because they have the most talent, but playing Finland is always a bit special. I just want some goals already!

Right from the IIHF rulebook on what Pettersson should have got:
Rule 564 – Players Leaving the Benches During an Altercation
B – Interpretation
1. Where the first player to leave a bench during an altercation comes from the penalty
bench, he shall be assessed a Minor penalty plus Game Misconduct penalty for
leaving the penalty bench (See Rule 563 (b) plus the Double Minor penalty plus
Game Misconduct penalty as the first player to leave a bench (See Rule 564 (b).

It was a good one... but don't you get the feeling half of these companies doing these patriotic commercials actually forget what they are advertising. They could pop up a Molson Canadian logo and I don't think anyone would know the difference.

FWIW, I just looked up the IIHF rulebook. It doesn't spell out automatic suspensions like the NHL rulebook does. There'd be no question in North America. Petterson would be gone for ten games. The IIHF has plenty of outs if it wants, though MacKenzie did say they were investigating the incident. By rights, both Russia and Sweden should be down players tomorrow. But there is always that "don't want to impact a championship game" mentality.

10 game suspension in the NHL... minor penalty for the IIHF. Sounds about right.

So no further discipline...or is it that a game misconduct in this situation means the next game as well?

True, you know it's Tim Horton's though and it's still advertising first, patriotism second.
They have Sidney Crosby in it so that gives it an international appeal.
It's also sayin that there's many more where Sid comes from and his history.
So yeah, a lot going on there like the Canadian Tire one with Toews.

One of the rules (507 if I remember the number) says any play can be reviewed for supplementary discipline. It's just not spelled out.

Game misconduct usually means no further discipline. Match penalty is an automatic suspension.
What I was wondering though, if the scrum starts after the game has ended and the player that has been let out of the penalty box joins, is that really considered leaving the bench?

He didn't technically "leave the bench" to join the altercation. He left the box because the game was over, then joined the scrum. That's about the only thing that could save him from a suspension.
He did drop his gloves at some point. In the clip on TSN.ca, he has a bare hand when he tackles the Russian. Although, that's a pretty stupid way to determine whether or not someone was fighting. If you punch someone with your gloves still on, you still punched him.
