I was hoping Kevin Westgarth would show us some truculence.

A new GM will likely be named after the post season, so we still have a lot of hockey to play until then.
I hate the fact that I'm getting so annoyed with all the impatient and negative people. Every snarky comment about "truculence" really irk me. I think I need some time off from this board, but I seem to come back every day, at most.

I agree with everything you said, and this is just nitpicking. But trading away our franchise forward, top defenseman and having our all-star goaltender retire last year probably makes this year two.

Flames outhit the Flyers 11-9, so we won the truculence battle.
Unfortunately we lost the hockey game.
McGrattan and Westgarth combined for 1 hit.

Those big moves (Iggy, Bouwmeester, Tanguay, Kipper retiring) happened all after it was clear we were out of the playoffs, so I'd classify the current season and draft as year 1. We were fortunate enough that management last year gave it a bit of a head start.

It hasn't even been a calendar year since the trades went down, and last year was a half season. By the end on this draft I would consider us at the end of year one. Year 1.2 maybe?

1 hit eh?
Well, that's already matched the amount of points that Nemisz got in his entire NHL career, so we can only go UP from here!

Flames game... Tosh.0 marathon... Flames game... Tosh.0 marathon...
Went with the Tosh marathon. At least it was slightly funnier than whatever the Flames' defence was doing tonight.

Got back...random thoughts in no order:
- Berra did alright. The 3rd goal was on him, but it was hardly the deciding factor.
- Cammalleri seemed to think he is much better than he is...there were lots of plays where he made a fancy move or two too many.
- Bouma looks hurt or bored or something. Didn't seem to be doing anything.
- Flames couldn't deal with the larger Flyers collapsing. Giordano and Stajan fired tonnes of shots straight into feet.
- Butler was the most notable in bad moves (lost track of the puck 10 feet from his net, gave up an odd man rush...on a couple occasions), but Smith and SOB weren't doing the team any favours.
- Monahan is more impressive tonight than he's been since he returned. Not sure this was notable on TV, but he always seemed to know where to go and, if he had better speed, would be a huge force for the team.
- Same goes with Byron, but replace speed with size.
- Colborne seems to play the game a little slow. When he has time, he is a great player...he just can't play the quality of game his hands and size allow when he's hurried.
- David Jones looked good...did the right things, but couldn't get any points.
- Team needs to develop some plans of attack...many times, they thought they knew where their forward linemates were going and just threw the puck away.
- I think I sat near Ren...or a clone of him. He seriously looks like Ren from what I remember of the pubes swallowing video and made comments similar to what Ren would say about the Flames.

Curious how he said them? I do know that the usual way you hear English-speaking people pronounce Meszaros is not necessarily correct. "Mae-sa-rosh" would be the proper way to pronounce that name (it's Hungarian in origin...the word means Butcher).

That's a pretty awesome tidbit and name. It goes up there with Hellberg and Vikingstad as some of my favourites.

They spoiled us with their play early on. But really we are now seeing what we had thought we would see from them this year. Be nice if Sven could get back on track or some of the other younger players otherwise there isn't much to look forward to or be excited about. Other than perhaps deadline time if Burke does some house cleaning!

Can a mother####er get Ramo to start finally? Berra hasn't been letting in many goals lately but most of the goals he has let in have been stoppable; Ramo is just as good and deserves more playtime plus he has a much better winning percentage. Stop the man crush Hartley! I don't care how good he was in the swiss league let them both have a chance to develop in the nhl.
Ramo 15 starts 6-6-3
Berra 18 starts 5-11-2

Watching that game showed really why Philly has struggled recently.
They had a lot of problems with their transition game, especially in the neutral zone. Lots of passes into feet and poor communication.
They have the talent to compete, but they need a good coach.
