He could have hit him with his shoulder and kept his forearm down yet he decided to raise it up in the last second.
Keep forearm down, just another hockey play.

Watch the knee drop, the snow angel with his arms after being "knocked out". The way he puts his head in the ice carefully, so he doesn't break his nose as he hits the ice, again while "knocked out". Players who get knocked out don't hesitate and then SLAM to the ice like he did, they just collapse and hit the ice.
He's not faking that there's any injury, as he obviously left and didn't come back but that "knock out" simply did not happen. Way too obvious.

The part I found interesting is how he covers his face before he hits the ice then afterwards moves his arms out of the way.

You think he stayed out of the game in the Canucks hope that McGrattan could get further suspension for it based on the fact they don't play the Flames for 3 weeks and the Flames are no threat to them for the play-offs?
I hope he sees a doctor as well to make sure he is okay but I think the NHL can proceed with any punishment without seeing any doctors reports.

The fact that Alberts didn't return makes me hesitate to call any sort of embellishment on him at all. As for the hit, I don't think it warrants any further punishment. It was a high hit and McGrattan got his arms up, but he hit him in the shoulder.
Unfortunate result from a borderline illegal check.

didn't look like anything other than a hard hit at the game, and it still only looks like a hard hit... still don't see the elbow hitting his head.

POS faker. I don't care if he's injured he obviously faked being knocked out. Never seen a guy shake off his gloves while motionless then continue to pretend to be unconscious.
It doesn't make a difference if McGrattan is suspended. Hope he gets 40 games. Maybe a young guy will get a chance.

No, I think he was faking being knocked out because I've seen people get knocked out and I've seen people fake being knocked out and Alberts' case matches the former. I am not implying any of the things you are trying to attribute to me.

I think that the 5 + a game was enough and was likely too much based on the hit itself, however the referees erred on the side of caution because of the teams involved and getting McGratton out of the game ensured that things wouldn't get stupid. I honestly think that the people who are saying that Alberts was faking injury or embellishing are grasping at ridiculous straws, much like the people who said that Seabrook was faking as Wisniewski hit him.

If you look closely, his head goes back and to the left.
Back...and to the left.
It's clear that there was a second shooter. Or spitter....

Typically, when a person gets knocked out their arms would drop, not raise up. I dunno, I wanna give the benefit of the doubt but it IS the Canucks...

Okay but then why would he need to see a doctor before the suspension? Perhaps I misread it but to me it seemed like you were implying a dr should verify he was injured before any punishment was given.
I have seen plenty of people being knocked out and it hasn't really looked the same to me when it has happened and different people/situations have different reactions.

when you get knocked out you don't have a different reaction, you fall to the ground limp. I'm saying if Mcrgrattan gets suspended for more than a high hit because of additional injury it should be a real injury. Probably hurt like hell getting hit in the face at full speed, but it's part of the rules that an injury can cause longer suspensions so it should be based off more than what appeared to be an embellishment. I don't see how that's so hard to grasp.

When someone gets knocked out, they drop. Simple as that, knees buckle, eyes roll and down you go. Albert's body language IMO does not match that. Was he hurt? Sure, but I think he sold the "knock out" to garner a harsher penalty which he achieved.

I was going to say that I really don't think he sold it and when I saw it live I really believed it, but after what some of you have pointed out, I now give Alberts a 10/10 for that one. I do think he was hurt, but if he didn't sell it like that, Gratts probably only gets 2 instead of 5+Game.

Honestly, I do not even know how that's a penalty. At worst it should've been 2 for charging and even then... He didn't keep striding in, he was gliding in. Shoulder to shoulder contact. Yes the guy's head hit the glass, but that's because he was trying to avoid the hit. That's not McGrattan's fault, Alberts put himself in a bad spot instead of just getting hit.
