Just got back from the game. I haven't been able to make it to too many games lately, but it seems every game I do go too, McGrattan scores. Wasn't surprised when he did, that whole line has been great the last 3 games. Some people laugh when I say he's one of my favourite players on the team, but every time I see him live he's on fire.

Very, very, very, VERY weak fan appreciation night. Gave away 10 jersey's and $0.50 off hot dogs... Woo.
In the southern US you get more than that bundled with your ticket price.

Didn't hurt to try. In the moment, it was either that, or attempt to stroke my hands through his beautiful mane.

For once in my life I went with the less creepy option.

Wow. I was at the game and I did not even notice that it was Fan Appreciation night.

In 99, the fan appreciation game giveaways were 10 COLOUR TVs. That is actually what the flyer said. I don't even think you could still get a black & white TV. Colour TVs.

Jerseys off the players back is always the way to go.

I think they were expecting low interest. For most of the last 2yrs canes were horrible, and coming off of iginla night.

That said, I like to think that Calgary is a big enough hockey town, that we don't need "FAN APPRECIATION NIGHTS"!

I agree, but do it right or not at all. They advertised "Great sales on food!!!" But it was an italian sausage for $4.25 instead of $4.75. WOW

I guess all I mean is the half hearted nature of it felt like a big middle finger.

I used to like some of his posts, but his posts get more annoying as they go, instead of bickering with him, I just put him on ignore.

Backlund has played 18 games this year with more than 14 minutes of ice time - aka, a rough approximation of top 6 ice time - and in those games he has 3 goals, 7 assists for 10 points and is +2. That would be a 46 point pace over a full season. In those games the Flames are 8-7-2.

Not exactly shooting the lights out, but interesting nonetheless.

“The mentality on the bench was very different after we gave up that goal than it’s been in the past,” Butler said. “We’ve been a little bit fragile, but I thought guys did a good job stepping up right after we gave up that goal.

“We didn’t panic, we didn’t go into a shell and I think that’s a positive step for us.”
Quote:
“I think we’ve been giving less and less turnovers and that’s the key,” Ramo said. “Other teams doesn’t get too many odd-man rushes and too many breakaways. I think that’s one key and our penalty kill has been really good lately.

“You cut the chances down and scoring goes down, too.”

“It doesn’t really affect the way we play,” Matt Stajan, before the Thursday’s contest, was saying of Jay Feaster’s sudden dismissal. “We go out there, we have the same system, the same game plan. Nothing changes for us.

“We have a game plan.”
Quote:
“I have no doubt in my mind that . . . they’re going to be ready,” Hartley had said of his lads. “I’ve met with the team. Brian met with the team. As much as it’s a sad day, there’s still a hockey game going on. Two days ago, we had a great day with Jarome (Iginla’s return) and there was still a game going on. So my message will not change.”
Quote:
“I think we’re in a good mindset right now,” Giordano had noted in the morning. “It’s tough, obviously. Jay was a great guy and I have a lot of respect for him. Really, our job doesn’t change for tonight. We have to come out and play hard and find a way to get a win.”

“As players, as coaches, we’ve been working hard. I think we’ve been doing a good job of that. Now it’s getting to the next step here. I think the message is clear — losing is unacceptable. We have to start winning games.”
