I always felt Feaster was only here to ride out Iginla and Kipper and be the "guy" that traded the franchise. I thought he would get this year at least as we all know it is a wash and are just looking for the best draft pick. Timing is a surprise but my guess is the Flames want someone very specific and want to pounce early on him.
My other thought is that Burke/Owners were not happy with the timeline Feaster laid out for the rebuild, 4 or 5 years where Burke wants it in 2. Actually thought Feaster did a decent job once the wheels came off the bus.
More interested to see what happens to the coaching staff at the end of the season.

Cliff Fletcher knows how to party. He crashed my friends wedding when in Punta Cana. the party was going on and all of a sudden Cliff Fletcher was standing there holding two beers, hands up and dancing. Good times.

Gettign Cammy for the hot garbage Bourque was, was NOT one of the many ####-ups Jay did under his tenure.

Interested to see the changes. Hartley was Feaster's boy, so I can not IMAGINE he stays the rest of the season. I would be shocked.
|
He'll finish out the season, there would be no point in letting him go now. Gives the new GM lots of time to do a thorough coaching search.

Don't mind Feaster being cut but this scares me cause it makes me believe people in the organization are being impatient with the rebuild.
I swear to god if one of our good prospects are lost this team will go through another extended young guns phase.

I know we all love tothink Sven will be Patrick Kane, but aside from his ridiculously good call-up 2 years ago. He's been mediocre since, but still has high trade value based on potential. If there was a deal for the aformentioned Evander Kane that Baertschi was the central piece for, you have to consider it. Just don't trade him for someone "post-apex" like Ribeiro.

Alright. He needs this. Tonnes of TOI, PP time, and get his swagger back. Hopefully he builds some good chemistry with someone like Knight or Ferland.

I'd rather they just get rid of Hartley.

Late to the party. Glad this happened. Glad Burke saw flames got crap value on jbo and iggy trade. Especially jbo trade. He'll they didn't even get a unprotected 1st in the deal in a deep draft.
I can also see why Weisbrod was let go. While I like his 2 drafts a lot of players seemed to be reaches. Think the janko pick was deciding factor for draft evaluation.
Feaster had no place in flames. He said he did not know how to scout and his trades were bellow average. Also every year with Feaster in he said they needed to get bigger but seemed to do the opposite.

I am way late to the party here, and I am sure this has been asked.
1. You want to finish to get a good draft pick... right?
2. On the other hand, you want to put a team on the ice that shows the fans and community we are going to be a contender.
But you cannot complete step 2 without seeing the first step, right?
This seems premature to me, at best.
This seems to be the same cycle that the flames were in for so long. Afraid to finish last, and really rebuild.

The only team that is okay with finishing last for the draft pick is Edmonton. Tell me when their rebuild is finished.

So your saying you have to finish last to do a proper rebuild? The problem with what the Flames are doing is they have never had anyone in charge who knows how to properly draft and develope hockey players. Ken Holland says hi!

I agree whole-heartedly. There was nothing more annoying than every time someone took a potshot at Feaster they would insert a few Feasterisms as if it was some new/clever thing to do.

Now we can put all our energy into ways we can use truculence and pugnacity in every sentence while rushing through the rebuild that we're 3 months into and already freaking out about.
Edit: forgot to add pugnacity.

There is no chance that we would have lost the pick if Colorado hadn't matched. The wording of the MoU supported Feaster's interpretation and we'd have almost certainly gotten to keep ROR. At worst, the signing would have been voided and we wouldn't have lost anything. In hindsight, I'm glad that we kept the #6 pick, but we were still within striking distance of a playoff spot at that point and Kipper was about to return from his injury, so it was reasonable to think that ROR and a decent Kipper would have been enough to push that pick back into the teens. Regardless, I think you said it best...

So is it "almost" or "no chance" ?
